Well after tubbing Merryns foot 4 times yesterday I put a poltice on over night. I took it off at lunchtime and it stank and was full of goo :D :D :D I don't think anyone has ever been so happy to find puss :D:D. I can't realy tell where It's all come from but it's there :D and even better Merryn is so much sounder than yesterday when he could barely walk (even in the school) Now he is only slightly lame. :D
I had called two farriors to see if they could come and have a look but neither has got back to me  But it looks like I don't need them anyway. :D:D
(If one phones back I'll prob still get them to come up on Mon just to make shore all is well) But atleast it doesn't look like he's got lami now :D:D:D
Sorry for the prity pointless post but i'm just so relieved. :D

P.S I also lunged Herbs today who apart from being alittle stiff to begin with, seems non the worse for ware after his stupidity yesterday. :)

Fantastic - Keep wet poulticing over the weekend, then by monday enough repair horn will have grown inside the hole that it will be starting to seal and heal. I would dry poultice for a couple of days more next week.

Gentle exercise is going to be the best thing to help force out any more gunge, so if you can make a little waterproof boot, turn out over the weekend would help no end.

Unless you horse gets sore again, I wouldn't bother with a farrier now, he will probably want to dig which is going to leave a huge hole that you will need to keep clean for ages, while at the moment you have a nice neat tidy hole that nature will deal with.

Thanks montyforever I can't tell you what a relief it is to have found puss. :)

Thanks Rem. Yes I was going to wet poltice over the weekend then dry poltice for a few days. I just want the farrior to look at his feet. He's new to me (not even had him a week yet). He had Lami in June (hence why I was worried he had it again) I also think he has flat feet so wanted there advice as to weather he needs shoes. My farrior is very good he actualy advised me to take Herbies shoes off as he had good feet and didn't need them on. :)

Phew! Was wondering how Merryn was - you must be very relieved. Glad to hear he is so much better.

Good thet Herbie is none the worse too!

Thankyou Ommadawn. I'm glad they are both ok. :) Just anoying Merryn did this this weekend when we have the kids. :( They where so looking forward to riding him. Now they will have to wait another 2 weeks. :( They'll just have to help me poo pick instead :p ;) :D :D and maybe i'll let them groom him :D

Just to let you know that I have used these from ebay -

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PROTECTIVE-LA...oods_StableAccessories_SM&hash=item3cb15575b4

I know that they seem too good to be true price wise but if you are keeping a horse in and want to keep a poultice in place they are brilliant with a wrapping of tape at the top.

I don't have a vested interest - just thought I would pass the info on - I have given some (medium size) to a friend of mine for her 15'2 mare who had a couple of absesses and they worked fine - yes they don't last for long but seemed to do okay for at least 12 hours overnight or 8 hours in the day - we just doubled up to the longer period.

Well worth the money IMHO
