I am determined to get this little fat pony of his fit and working well to voice commands
off we went this afternoon down to the paddock to get started, he was not in a good mood as he thinks he is being starved, although the amount of poo tells me he is finding something in the dirt! Thought I would have a bash at lunging, my previous attempt failed, he just doesn't know what to do. Well, to my surprise we actually managed 10 minutes at a good trot pace on each rein
but when I asked him for walk he stuck his head down and ate grass, couldn't get him going again, no matter how fast I ran to try and get behind him he did a wonderful display of planting his back feet and following me around with his front so he was always facing me! undeterred I then did a bit of in-hand stuff, asking him to back up, walk and trot on voice command etc and a few times over poles with a small jump. He started to look really cheesed off so decided I had better stop there, I have to say that I was sweating more than he was come the end, can you really cheese a pony off and ruin them by getting them to do something they really don't enjoy? don't want to make him into more of a nappy nightmare! sorry for lack of paragraphs in this post but for some reason it wont let me return to the line below
