Never ever leave your hat on the floor when horses are around......this is what happened to mine when a horse reared and landed on it!!

I had to make a mad dash to get out of the way of said horse that had totally freaked out for no reason, reared and nearly landed on my horse before barging past my horse, breaking the ring rather than the twine that my horse was tied up to along with a haynet and horses plus haynet bolted to the field! I landed in a comando roll style on a pile of rubble so I am very stiff, bruised and sore today but I can live with my injuries cos I could easily have not been here had my horse not seen me fall.....bless him, he stopped and whipped around so as not to trample me! All horses were fine despite being tacked up with reins and headcollars flying all over the place. My boy was so lucky, he had his headcollar, rope and a haynet flailing around his legs!
This is just another reminder of how unpredictable horses can be and how we should not be blase when handling them...it was a 24 year old, dobbin that started the panic!
