It's my birthday today and at the grand old age of 31 again (for quite a few years now :o) I think my mother might finally understand me. She just loves buying me spa vouchers and to be honest they are a pain in the back side to use. Especially when she buys them for that "wonderful little place I went to" 80 miles away from where I live. I know she means well, and I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but....... :rolleyes:;)

Anyway, she has finally given up with me and decided to buy the spa experience (horse shower) for the horses instead. Far more appropriate given I have two greys. :)

I don't want one of those portable gas ones. We don't have gas at home, and I can't really explain it logically, but I quite like living without gas and don't really want it on the yard. She's found this one in her research which looks great to me - does anyone have one?

Thanks! I would offer birthday cake, but nobody bought me one (I have a husband and two sons). Good for the diet I guess. :)

Sorry no idea about the horse shower but do understand your feelings about gas.
My mother would never have it installed in her (at the time) new build house as when she was a teenager, she and her mother were found passed out in a gas filled house. They were extremely fortunate, as the house was in a remote area. Mum lived quite happily for almost 50 years in an all-electric house.

Sorry no help on the horse shower. We parked up next to lady at a show who had one in her lorry, it was brilliant. Poor lady had me and YO in her lorry oooing and ahhhing over it whilst our horse looked dejectly at her bucket and sponge :)

Thanks for the reply. That's a scary story. :( I'm so glad your mother and grandmother were ok. I think my fear comes from when I was a child - a house near to my school had a gas boiler explode. We drove past it the day after it happened, and there was literally about a foot of wall left of the entire house and smoldering rubble for the rest. Thankfully noone was hurt, but it has stayed with me all this time.
 
Am I being thick or is it only cold water though? The one I looked at heated the water which sounded much more civilised.

Thanks, at least I know they do seem to work without gas. Tbh my horse doesn't much care, but as I seem to end up sharing the experience, warm water would be much nicer. :eek::p
 
I have a hothorseshower which runs off a red gas bottle and the mains tap. so easy and quick to use, cost £190 and the horses love it! I have greys too! once you have one you wonder how you washed them without.
 
The one I saw was probably double the size of the one in the picture and was an upright unit. It def warmed the water. all I can remember is that it was an Irish website, republic as price was in €
 
I got bought one of the propane gas hot water showers as a Christmas present, when we saw them being demonstrated at the 3 counties show last year. The gas bottle has a regulator, so is no different to use than if you were going camping and used a gas bottle cooker. They are perfectly safe if used correctly and as we have the shower and gas bottle attached to a metal suitcase carrier it is very mobile. Unfortunately due to the weather not helping haven't had chance to try it out on horses yet, but it does work very well and gets very warm. Don't be put off by the gas bottle if you are going to use the shower outside, if its going to be just cold water you might as well just use the hose pipe.
 
Try googling waterboy. Irish company that I'm sure does hot showers. Demo on view at badminton.
 
Ecotemp 5 l or a tankless water heater. They are camping showers exactly the same.... Really fab. Mine came from the uk dealer, abbacus cabins , brill!

Happy birthday and lucky you. I would love a horse shower also having a grey (who is now permanently roan :rolleyes:)
 
Waterboy are definately the market leaders here in Ireland but as far am Im aware they run on gas but I dont know a whole lot about them so might be worth contacting them.
They seem to be great for bringing to shows for a proper cool down after cross country
 
Son has a Nomad washer which is good for washing off after xc at events but it obviously doesn't heat water and the battery has to be recharged. On the yard we have an electric shower attached to a hose so we get warm water. The only proviso is to insulate the shower unit itself to minimise the the risk of freezing.
