Daughters new pony has proved interesting to get jumping. Not helped by daughter having never really jumped before. First pony was too old to really do more than a 9" crosspole.
Despite hitting the deck on numerous occasions they finally seem to be working it out between them.
Now we can start working on the finer points like lines, quality of approach and position

here's a vid from yesterday evening. Purple fence ended up at 97cm (3'2" in old money). Not sure I'm happy about my baby jumping big fences but she's determined to get to junior BSJA.

Crikey, pony has got alot of jump there! Your daughter rides beautifully, wish i could get that sort of canter consistantly!!

Oh wow they look really good together and the pony certainly seems to have a nice little pop on it. They will be flying round winning comps in no time

That was the first thing we had to work on. Pony used to charge in at 300mph then stop dead in front of fence. Que daughter clearing fence without pony.
I cant take much credit for her riding. Thats down to the dressage diva wife. Poor child doesn't know if she should focus on dressage or jumping. I advised her to do both then event

That was lovely to watch. As others have already said - your daughter rides beautifully and has a fab pony.

It's great to see her wanting to ride and compete (and not being pushed into it. You should be very proud of her.

We've never pushed her even when she has asked us what we thought she should do. Answer has always been to do what she wants to do whether its aiming for hickstead or charging around fields. I'll support her to the hilt but it has to be her desire, not mine or mums.

and yes, i am very proud of her. Getting LG (the pony) to this standard has taken guts and determination. Something sadly lacking in a lot of todays youngsters.

You wouldn'y have thought so 3 months ago. Previous owner had quite a bit of trouble finding parents daft enought to want a pony that had serious attitude.

If I find a 15.2 version then I will have it

Well funnily enough she is generally happy to get on most horses. She has even ridden Ed a couple of times by mum goes grey so we decided to stop that one.
 
What a lovely pony and she rode it very well .The pony looks like it is very experienced so she should be very proud as you say it is novice ,she has done very well to get it going like that.Maybe some spreads instead of higher and higher would be a good idea as shows often have lots of them.

Height and type of fences has been totally her decision as I just wanted her to get her confidence.
He is very green having really only done lead rein work before we got him. Her first experience of him jumping was when we went to try him. She turned in to a tiny fence in trot. He got to within a stride all sweet as pie the stopped dead and bucked. I was surprised she still wanted him after that. Think the vendors were to. You could see it all over their faces " Oh god not again"
I have been working with him over spreads on the lunge and he doesn't have an issue with them so hoepfully we shouldn't have too many problems.

First show is this weekend

They look great - I hope the pony got a big pat and a carrot and she got an ice-cream! It's so good to see a child riding so sweetly - no shouting or tearing about. They are a credit!

Good luck for their 1st show - hope she gets a red ribbon for all the effort
