How to get the hair to grow back on this scar? Will it grow back? It's the result of a horse fly sting in June - the whole side of her face was still bare of hair in July. I'd just like to think that this will eventually grow over..................

P.S. Please excuse the HUGE headcollar - it's Berry's, not B's

I've been feeding her aloe vera juice (i'm taking it too atm) - was wondering about cornucresine (I take it that, that is what you mean - lol). Bit iffy about using Camrosa on her - is it safe for broodmares?

I have heard that the cornucrescine can make the hair grow back white though... has anyone else experienced this?

Grace has a few patches on her face too (no idea from where) and I have been using something called Sacrid salve. It is for saroids but promotes hair growth.

I phone call to the suppliers of Camrosa should clear up whether it is safe (I would think so but it is as well to check) - and yes it was cornucresine I was trying to remember.

Be careful with the aloe juice with a mare in foal, it is not been tested in these conditions, therefore cannot be said to be 100% safe - certainly it would be fine to sponge onto the scar though

That's interesting as it's something we used a LOT in the US for the broodmares and have also used it on broodmares over here - both under equine veterinary supervision!

wipe clean with a wet wipe and apply pure aloe vera at least once a day.
Pidge had this when I got him, which the vet treated with fuciderm and something else, none did anything, so tried the aloe vera and it worked. It was black and totally hairless, the black started to come off and then pink skin underneath and slowly the hair grew back.

he's now like this

no problem, vet said Pidge's was a bacterial infection and it was totally hairless and as you can see the hair has totally regrwon and is the same colour not white!

I like to go against the trend...and I've found that hairless scars/patches stay that way only until the horse's next coat change....in spring and autumn.
Obviously, that's if the hair follicles are undamaged...if they are damaged nothing will really work...
