I have responded to 8 adverts in the last 24 hours, not one has answered the phone and not one has responded to my emails. Two of the horses were via dealers.

Have I missed something !

I don't think so ,I had a far bit of that when I was looking before Christmas I don't know what it's about surely if you want to sell a horse you at least ring people back .
It's not just horses though I was looking at houses and rang to view one to be told the vendor was taking the viewings and was not available before the middle of April !.
Ok on to the next one .

Same here and it's not a recent thing, I was looking last June, I would leave three messages, then forget it, the lad I did buy, because I really liked the look of him, I phoned about five times, at different times and finally had a reply, thank god he was my last

A sensible anything including a bit of age. All it needs to do is be a pleasant person on the ground and take a nervous lady around the village on a Sunday.

Those are like gold dust. I've been looking for at least 8 months and been beaten to 2. Folk are very odd I have found. It seems that nobody wants to do business.

This type flies off the shelf so to speak.
When my mum was selling her safe as houses can turn her hoof to anything she sold her for £1000 more than she was asking for!!!!
Good horses always sell quickly.
As for the not returning phone calls people are odd. If they have already sold it take the advert down or put a message on your voicemail that says so!!!!

I replied to one last week, really like the horse although it's a 5 hour drive away so I sent an email saying I like him and asked a few questions which should avoid wasting my time and sellers. Anyway, he's not even bothered to reply!? I don't get it, an email only takes a few minutes.

I found phoning was best. Some people don't check their emails regularly and I have heard some people don't think you are a serious buyer if you text or email.
I always thought it was just quicker and more convenient.

I did ring and left voicemails on all the unanwered calls. Then backed my telephone message up with an email.

How recent were the adverts you were responding to? I haven't looked for a couple of years, but when I was looking I found it paid to sort the adverts by date with the newest first, check the websites every day and ring as soon as one came up that I liked. Otherwise I ended up ringing people who advertised a couple of months ago, without realising it.

Very true. The advert for the cob I bought for my downsizing/get a sensible one, in 2012 stayed on Horsequest for a good month after I got her home.

When I was horse hunting last month I found the same thing, it was infuriating. Some adverts only had an e-mail address and then they didn't even bother replying. One horse even went down in cost, I had e-mailed and rang a week before and got no responce and then it went down in cost as they were loosing there livery so had to sell quickly, it took them another week to return my call by then I had found another one.

Phew! thank god its not just me! i am having the same problem. emails, texts, calls and left voicemails and nothing back. Very frustrating! i have money available, livery reserved and a loving home waiting .... :(

Spike the Spensive!! He doesn't love me at the moment, so he's packed his bags and is waiting for someone to offer him a nice home where people don't swear at him and call him names!
