... and he did really well!

He's been on a horse about 4 times in his life, and went loose on a hack on my fab arab mare whilst I rode my big lad infront, he even had a trot and managed to stay on!

He knows how to hold the reins AND steer :D LOL. He has adopted the 'hunting' position though which I will have to correct at some point...

I'm quite proud of him! He'll have a go at anything bless, he's a city boy at heart but has embraced my country-bumpkin life with open arms...

I forgot to get a photo though!

He's off to Italy for 5 days to see a friend on friday, lucky beggar.

Thats fab!

I know a few on here like the horses to stay 'their thing' but i love my OH getting involved and he's had a few lessons in Libya where he works and is doing well, he too has a hunting style but has soft hands and good judgement- so I figure as long as he's enjoying himself it makes no odds for the occasional time he rides.

I've seen people who have ridden for years with a worse seat :p

Glad you had fun!

my other half was not horsey at all when I met him, he now has regular riding lessons once a fornight on a friends horse (i have a TB and he is slightly too heavy for my boy) and I have booked a surprise ride on the beach for him next week for his bday!
i just dread the day he wants to buy one! he has even brought all the equipment for himself....including a lovely racesafe body protector which im very jealous about as I dont have one!

I wish my partner would take up riding!!! although he is very keen for me to break my youngster in for driving..........

Like your OH I was non horsey until I met our lass 12 months back. After a lot of work I have managed to get the confidence to get back on a horse (massive hurdle) and am having lessons when i am back and not working.

I always said to her I wanted to hack out together and other week we managed to do this for her birthday by having a pre booked hack as at just over 15 stone I am a little heavy for most horses especially her TB

It's soon going to start to cost me I feel as I have started looking for my own horse so we can hack out together more often.

Sometimes men beginners end up in the 'hunter' position out of trying to keep their crown jewels safe and not squashed/sat on. Next time tell him to wear the tightest undies he owns. Baggy boxer types are NO good for riding.
