i tried Ben on straw

hes easier cleaner and it cheaper! however hes eating his bed, and im putting in half bale a day to make up for what hes eating so im now back 2 square 1 its ither back on shavings or something else but not cardbourd as he ate the box from his snack-a-ball lol

i think im going to have to make due with shavings, i even upped his hay net and used his small hole one still not working lol

all i can say is bl***y horses!

Have you tried wheat straw? They don't eat it as much as barley straw I find.

yeah im in kent, i personally think ben will eat anything lol hes such a greedy guts! he would eat his full feed bin if given half chance

If he is on barley straw he will tuck in lol! It is used as an animal feed, i shouldnt worry too much it will still be alot cheaper than shavings, even with him eating it. Or use wheat straw.

I used to use a watering can and mix a light solution of jeys fluid and water and spray it over the straw - soon stopped mare eating it after a very unpleasant mouthful...
