Following from my last post and having to sell one of my horses (or loan now im thinking) I spent ages last night doing ad and getting her lovely pictures but when it came to confirming it i just couldnt do it!!

Im so sad Im so worried about selling her to someone bad. Am I crazy?? everyone who knows her keeps saying " oh what a shame shes so great etc etc' which doesnt help.

Am now thinking I might loan. her locally I really dont know what to do. What about a share whats peoples experiences. just need help with livery cost & help if I have to shoot up to mums in shropshire.

Help please what shall I do?

Agree don't sell! Try and find a sharer, then take it from there.....you could either regret it or it could be the best thing....either way you won't know till you have tried!Lot's of Luck!

A share sounds good if that would work for you.
Sorry i am a biased non - seller. Just cannot do it.
I have 5 in fantastic loan homes. You would need to do a loan/share agreement!
Had one bad experience at weekend but brought horse home. Was the middle man in that one and would not have agreed for horse to go if totally up to me. I am very hard at getting a horse off me but find fantstic loan homes.
I do tottally check people out, do not accept references as anyone can do them but enquire in their area. People do like to gossip!

Got so much going on atm just another stress! (mum dying of cancer etc)

Will make a sign up for local tack shop and go from there. Anyone tell me where I can find a copy of an agreement to have a look at?

If you can tell me how to do it - get it to you - i have one we use for loan for our Charity you could change to your own requirements.
I am so sorry about your Mum, i have been through same with both parents.
It may help to have a sharer and have your horse to help you through.

I have been through it too. Poor poor you. It's horrid.

So sorry for what you're going through.
As you're under so much stress its probably not a good time to make decisions about selling your horse if you have any alternative. I agree a share or loan would be a good idea.

There is a loan agreement on the BHS website - I'm not sure about a share agreement, but the loan one could probably be adapted.

I read your last post and I'm sorry you are having to face such a horrible situation. I agree with the people who think having your horses close will help you through it. I don't know if its already been suggested but have you considered keeping one or both of them at grass or working livery for a while to ease your workload and to save you alot of money. I appreciate neither may be the right solution for you but I just though I'd put the idea forward in case it might be. I'm sure you will find a way to keep both horses if thats what you want to do.

I'd certainly opt for a sharer if I was you. I have been a sharer in the past and there are two lovely sharers on my yard. It's got to be worth a try. Can you contact your local RC/PC and see if there is anyone who might be interested?

Alternatively, are you near a university or college? When I had Gypsy and Spot on loan I was at University and it was an ideal arrangement. I was an experienced rider but lacked the money for my own horse. Loaning was an ideal compromise. The advert for them was on a noticeboard at uni, could be worth a try
