It wasn’t a resounding success I have to say. I was pulling a bale from the top of a stack and neglected to remove myself from the drop zone. It only fell about an arms length before my head broke its fall, but then I fell off another two bales. I really shouldn’t be allowed out on my own. There was a ‘pop pop pop pop pop’ all the way down my spine from base of my skull and not in a ‘ahh, that was a nice crunch’ kind of a way.

There’s probably a reason why footballs weigh about 400g and not 20kgs...

Sounds horrendous, are you absolutely sure you’re ok?
I’m ok right now, just a little headache and a warm side of my neck but totally compos mentis. I may wake up tomorrow with whiplash symptoms as it whipped my head to the side as it fell, hence the popping all the way down.

Although given I did my first kettlebell workout in years this morning, I’m not sure if the leg pain will override everything else in the morning!

Really feel for you - I hate bumping my head or neck as I’m sure my hypochondriac symptoms are usually far worse than what I’ve actually done to myself... take care!

Mmmm that sounds nasty. I hate to be this person but I really would consider just taking yourself to the hospital to be checked out, its not worth taking the risk with head/back/neck. Hope you're okay.

I sympathise. I face planted 2 weeks ago and it was a good week before my head cleared. OH kept any eye on me for the first few days to check for concussion (which I think I had, but mild), so take care and let someone close know to check up on you! Painkillers (not aspirin) and rest seemed to be the main recommendation.

Please think about a quick check up with a physio in a few days' time when any bruising and swelling will have subsided. You may think you are OK but there can be residual damage - particularly where whip lash is concerned.

I did similar when stacking hay at the weekend, but with my knee. It popped, felt like I lifted the knee cap. It has been a bot sore, but looks like I have got away with it, like you have. Phew for both of us!

Definitely keep an eye on yourself. I didn't know I'd broken my back for two days...

As for silly accidents - I had a real Vicar of Dibley moment... Fell down a very deep puddle. Up to my waist. Was laughing so hard as it was so silly, and so liquid mud soup, and trying to keep my phone out of it whilst diggerman was trying to help me out. Was very funny. Wish I hadn't twanged my side though, feels like all the muscles/ligaments got well and truly pulled. Makes turning over in bed a bit tricky.
