I walked today for the first time in 6 long months eeeek! We worked it through so that I eventually had one crutch to help support me 'just in case', and my ankle didn't give pheeeeeeeew! RELIEF!

I will conquer those ruddy stairs in the forseeable future - they are the bain of my existence!

For those of you who didn't know, on 11th July 2009 I was sat on my friends youngster and she reared over on top of me and squished me!

I sat up and my foot was facing the wrong way.... nice...

I broke my talus bone (in the ankle) in 4 places and my fibula snapped and broke through my skin.

I had a blue flashy light ride to the hospital and had surgery that day. One week later I was able to go home!

9 weeks later I had a set back as my main wound broke open and you could see the metal work in my fibula, so back to hospital and the surgeon had to whip it out to avoid the risk of my talus metal work becoming infected!

Last week I saw my surgeon and he was really happy with my progress and gave me the go ahead to start weight bearing woohooooo!

I have waited to see my physio to do it today as I didn't want to do it wrong/over do it and damage myself!

Just want to say thank you to all those who have supported me and offered advice on my other posts regarding my manky ankle issues! xx

Oh hun - what a dreadful experience! Wish I had your positive outlook on what must have been a truly horrendous accident. So pleased you're on the mend but take it easy and listen to the Drs! Let us know when the next stage is going to happen xxx

Yey, hopefully things will improve quickly now

And such a positive attitude and determination should help.

I know it doesn't compare but after i had my cast off my badly broken foot all i wanted to do was ride, so i worked really hard on physio etc and hobbling around and i *may* have been rid of crutches all together and out on a hack withing a week. Not that i recommend such extremes (it's painful)! lol But once you start, hopefully things will progress relatively quicky

So pleased for u. Had same accident as u in June. But had a straight forward recovery and still found that difficult. You should only do what ur comfortable with and not over doing it and u will be walking around before u know it.

Well done!!!! I'm so pleased for you. I fractured my foot when I was a teenager on holiday in France and found that hard enough and it healed in only 4 weeks, so can't imagine how you've managed to cope.
