I have only had to endure 6 weeks in a cast with a fractured fibula and that was bad enough so your 6 months must have been maddening I really feel for you.

Anyway my cast came off today so I'm now trying to remind my body that my ankle actually belongs to me!

Many thanks to all of your posts, you guys made me cry lol!

Thank you for all of your healing vibes, I need them! I have been a good girl so far following the doctors orders and I am trying to remain as positive as possible! I have been really fortunate to have a supportive OH, Family and friends helping me out. I wouldn't be at the stage I am now if it wasn't for them!

I dream of the day of riding Sammi again, I can't wait to be back in the saddle again, just me and Sam, in our own little world!

As soon as my surgeon tells me to go for it, there will be no stopping me! I have decided to wait until then, as I really don't want to do something stupid and injury myself further, or cause further unnecessary damage.

I've been fairly optimistic and wore rose tinted glasses at points

, until my surgeon grounded me several times

Rose tinted glasses removed, the surgeon has told me straight my ankle is knackered so to speak, I quote, "You're ankle injury is very serious and not good news even if things go well, it is like trying to make a packet of crisps back into a potatoe".

Loving the simile!!

He said it is highly likely I will get osteoporosis in it, and will be able to give me a better prognosis of my ankle in 5 years time.

But the way I look at it, at least I wasn't paralysed or worse, dead! So I feel extremely fortunate! I am just so happy right now, I will be independant again soon! Yey!! xxx

Was about to say you'll be back on board in no time but if you're anything like me you've already done that. I hacked (and even jumped the odd log) one handed for a month (just don't tell my mother) Would never do it now as an adult though, I was only 16 at the time, had just finished my GCSEs and it would have been a long summer if I couldn't ride.
