After not competing for 12 months, having gruelling cancer treatment for 9 months including losing my hair etc, having my boy on nearly 5 months box rest for a suspensory strain/arthritic changes in right fetlock - I have finally got back on!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D

The sun was shining, his ears were pricked and he behaved beautifully...... no,actually he was a spooky git, some things never change!!! :p
I am such a happy person, just had to share with anyone who has been through long box rest.

Neither of us are out of the woods completely, his suspensory has healed but the vet has suggested IRAP treatment for his fetlock. We'll see how some exercise goes and build up slowly. WAAAAHHHHOOOOOO!!!!!!

Well done!!! What a special moment for you both, after coming through so much. Hope the recovery continues to go well for you and you enjoy lots more happy rides together very soon :)

Ive only ever done 6 weeks box rest and that was long enough so hats off to you and your horse for surviving that ;)

As for everything you have been through this yar with your own health and then your horse's..........I am so glad that you both have come out the other side to enjoy life together again and really hope it works out for you xx

Best medicine you could have ;-) its a wonderfull feeling isnt it, best wishes for both of you getting back to full health.

How exciting! What great news that you are both back in action. Hope all continues to progress well x

Echo this completely, you're definitely allowed a few tears at moments like these. Hope everything for you both continues to flourish from now on.

Well done you, riding is the best medicine! My mare was on box rest for 14 months so I know what its like "doing time". We are back hacking out now and just started a little schooling and its amazing how much better we both are. Long may it continue for you.

Thank you for your kind words, I am very touched! It is lovely to get such a response from complete strangers!! To anyone with the box rest blues, I'm thinking of you and wishing you well.

Very pleased for both of you,I nearly cried too as this is a really special moment. All good wishes for a happy and healthly future together

I've just cried tears of joy for you, reading your post!!

A MASSIVE well done, and a million best wishes to you both for a full recovery, you can do it, stay strong!

I'm having box-rest blues....and only on the 12th day of a 3 month box-rest period....but your story has given me strength.

Thank you xx
