I have a husky !

He's not all bad....... When you get past the sock/shoe chewing, ripping papers up, destroying my bed (I'm on my second set of duvets/pillows already this year).
The garden looking like someone has been digging for treasure.
The noise (even if i muzzle him),when i come home or go out or mix his tea or get his lead.

And this is a 4 year old dog that's walked 7 miles a day OFF his lead. He did 15 miles walking to the yard in all the snow and it didn't slow him down. And he runs a few miles in front of a scooter a few times a week.

To perfectly honest i don't think Huskies ever grow up.
I wouldn't have another unless i was in a position to run them as they were meant to be.

Oh and he can't be trusted with the horses his prey drive his to high.

Would you consider the dark side of sheppydom, as Boobos suggests?

If your boyf wants unusual, they also come in long coat, sable (two tone, mostly varying shades of grey-my favourite) black (stunning) and - I'll say this quickly, liver, blue and white *cringe* although those colours should never be bred from IMO and I would rescue, never buy from a litter intentionally bred for those colours. Rant over

I would, and I suspect my dad would be very pleased as he's worked with GSDs in a professional capacity (out in Iraq/Afghan, he's seen them actively save bloke's lives) and has always expressed his regret at not being able to have one while he's still in the army. I suspect I'd find my dog borrowed quite frequently for trips up Snowdon and similar in that case.

I can't quite get to the root of what he wants, to be honest. Spaniels are 'ok' but only liver and white, not black and white, though collies must be black and white (ruling out the one I saw advertised, which has the affront to be black, tan and white... *rolleyes*). He doesn't like EBTs, terriers or 'skinny dogs' (sorry Gazehound!
tongue.gif
) and I'm not willing to take on really big dogs like mastiffs and so on. Rotties are a possibility but again, from a rehoming angle it's not possible to filter out genetic conditions and things, plus they seem to be excluded from a lot of insurers?

I don't understand him, really, he's not a chav and doesn't need a 'status dog'.

For the record, I like really short-coated black and golds.

I admit, I used to dislike B&W Springers, we had one when I was tiny and she was rather nippy to say the least, then we had a L&W boy who was like a big teddy. So I made the association of colour and temprement.
However, Otto is a big softy, and I now find myself much preferring the B&Ws
grin.gif
But then Otto is fairly unique in his colouring, with such heavy roaning/flecking.

I personally prefer b&w - and he is a handsome devil with tremendously spotty legs!

My friend has a beautiful springer x collie who resembles a long-legged Otto with similar spots, I am totally smitten.

There's a spangle breeder locally whose kennels I often ride past but I would really rather not have a puppy and it does seem silly to pay £300+ when I'd merrily rehome an older dog.
crazy.gif
I'd rather put the £300 in the savings account for vets bills.

Fingers crossed his lordship has agreed to go to the Dogs Trust at Roden this weekend, though I am quite sure we won't pass their home check with regards the garden.

How about a working cocker? Whilst not rare, nobody ever seems to be able to guess the breed of ours
grin.gif

He is a fabulous robust, quirky little dog that in no way could be described as 'skinny', 'sensitive', 'poncy' or any of the other derogatory things my OH (and it seems yours
tongue.gif
) consider alot of these "breedy breeds" to be

And for the record, I do not consider a 30 minutes long bike ride, every morning, as normal!

There is a rescue in Shrewsbury that often has collie x puppies from Ireland to rehome. Moorlands Rescue (they're also a boarding kennels/cattery).

We got our collie x pup from her on Dec 30th and he is lovely. Not sure what he is crossed with, actually I might have to work out how to put a pic on and see what you experts think he is!!

Btw, I'm a complete novice dog owner and a serial lurker on AAD so forgive daft questions from me!

Anyway, hth's re your quest for a mutley x

Telling him wont work-but you could dog sit

Weekend of playing with a cute dog for you, weekend of muscle aching hell for him.....pretty sure he will apriciate a spaniel after that

And if you get a spaniel,I will hate you because I want one
