Well it's pouring down with rain and very windy here. I was sat on the sofa looking out the window thinking I was such a mean mummy leaving Herbs out in the field without a rug on. :( I desided to venture outside and see if he was ok.
Now there are actualy plenty of trees for him to hide under at the back of his paddock but where did I find him.
Stood in the middle of the blooming paddock getting soaking wet
When he saw me the silly boy came running over with a look on his face asif to say "mum are we going riding now". As I walked away he went back to the middle of the paddock and started grazing.
I guess he's quite happy out there without a rug on in the pouring rain the funny little man. Atleast I don't feel quite so mean anymore. ;) :p :D :D

LOL. People have been telling me i'm mean for not rugging him yet. I just tell them he's a forest bred forester he wouldn't have a rug on if he was still on the forest. :p
But today I did feel alittle guilty as it is so wet and windy, I thought he would atleast be stood under the trees.:)

All 3 of mine are out, getting wet and to my knowledge not melting away! Megs rug is quite happy in the dry on the rug rack, and I expect (and hope) it will stay put for another few weeks at least!!

Glad it's not just me leaving them out un rugged. Most people I know are already bringing in at night and rugging during the day. They all tell me I'm mean for leaving Herbs out unrugged 24/7.

As you said before'
HE'S A PONY - and a forester at that, THEY LIVE NATURALLY WITHOUT RUGS, and they all survive!! Shout it aloud, its all very true!!!

Pah, some people with their 'melt away horses'!! lol

LOL I've told them over and over that he's a forester. They just don't listen. I ignore them now.
I do keep looking to see if they've been out and put rugs on those poor wild ponies yet. ;) :p :D :D

My two year old is out rugless and hasn't melted yet, however my wimpy TB has a rain sheet on as he feels the cold and I don't want him dropping weight

I think they all need treating individually, just because one can cope without a rug on doesn't mean they all can and vice versa!

thats pretty obvious..

My ex-racer is out in this without a rug on - sometimes I think I'm being mean, but his ears and armpits are so warm, I can't bring myself to rug him - at least not just yet anyway (he'll be in a heavyweight in the proper winter).
He had his first winter out last year and survived!

3Beasties I couldn't agree more. I couldn't care less that others have rugs on there horses yet or even that they bring them in. Most of my friends don't have native ponies. :)

nativeponies He's by Sturtmoor Arctic Fox, out of Brookley crystal tips.

My forrester is out naked just like he will be all winter and has done since he was born on the forrest, he will no doubt be in the tree,s at the bottom of the field and will make a mad dash up the hill when he see,s me. My only problem now is do I put him in the winter field and watch him get fat before the really chilly weather arrives or watch him turn his tiny summer paddock into a mud bath ??? Mmmm decisions decisions:confused::confused:

Mine was out last nigth with a rug and neck cover because she is clipped. Got to the yard to bring her in for the day which is her routine at the moment and she normally comes over when I call her. She stood in the middle of the field in the pouring rain just looking at me. I think she was glad to come in because she felt quite cold but its sods law when the one day I want to get her in quickly she can't be bothered to walk across the field!
