i was just reading the post yesterday about...

I've just read some of your old posts, dbard, and would urge you not to buy any more horses, until you are competent to look after them properly, or can afford to keep them at full livery with someone who knows what they are doing.
I don't have anything against you personally (why would I?) but until a person takes the time and trouble to find out how to care for an animal properly, they shouldn't have one.
Please take up golf, or crochet, or something where no living creature is involved.

Are you trying to say that people who post in the common room only post there because they are not able to be adult about things!

This really does take the biscuit! I think that was a bit uncalled for. Most of us post their because its our own age group

I went through all the ads I could find from dbard. There are many BUT they are for four different things ONLY. Bay mare, grey sold to Loulabelle, the black pony and grazing wanted. Hardly the many ads you'd expect from a dealer.

IMHO she is someone who isn't very good at getting her point across and tends to come on here in a panic. I'm sure she only gets this much abuse because she posted shortly after one of the deja224 debacles, which lhotse took to mean that she WAS deja.

Had it been pretty much anyone else who'd said "I've got a new mare, I've only had her two weeks and she's got a bit of a belly. She was acting funny this morning - getting down and her belly seemed to be moving about but she's fine now, I rang my vet and he's going to pop out in the morning but from what I've said he isn't worried but thinks she might be in foal - do you think she might be in foal?" there would have been none of this furore.

I may be completely and utterly wrong as I have thankfully never had to deal with strangles first hand, but isn't the reason you take a gutteral swab because the bacteria can stay here for much longer and this wouldn't necessarily show up in the bloods?

I suggest you go back and read through dbard's original thread on this matter. If you think that this 'furore' has been caused by me, think again. I came into this thread late on, people were already calling her a troll on page 3!!

I would like to know why I am the only one singled out by you over this matter? Plenty of others have voiced their thoughts but my name is the only one that crops up.

Yes. It will show up if the horse is a hidden carrier, which is why this is always the method I would use if I were concerned about a horse; it's the most reliable.

Absolutely right there wouldn't have been any problem then, not even for Dbard ... however as you can clearly read, Dbard did NOT write her post as you wrote it.

I feel sorry for dbard- she lives 40 min from me and i have driven past her feilds many times- horses all look fine to me.

She has grass in her fields, hay on the floor horses look happy etc, certainly not neglected- oh and the rugs are done up correctly
