I was told today that only Natives should be allowed in UK - how far do you agree??

What a laugh, the woman is off her rocker... perhaps you could laughingly suggest she writes her erm theories and publish them in a book, the title could be Mein Cobf.

Bound to be a best seller ;-)

HOI!

OP, she sounds... interesting...

Out of interest, when did horses first arrive here? Cos since I'm sure they didn't evolve here from proto-mammals, strictly speaking there's no such thing as a true native... go on, tell her that next time, see what she says:D

Horses evolved into equus callabus in the Americas, then came galloping across the land-bridge to Europe (UK wasn't an island then). :D Dirty foreigners, all of them!

dear god -words fail me - she is clearly a complete loon.

actually cried with laughter at this thread though

You get people who will just disagree with you to make themselves seem more important and clever than you - those people normally dont have a clue, as proven by your example :D

LOL! Could be quite amusing though watching some of our international SJ, Event, Dressage stars competing on small hairies.....!

This is such a funny thread! :D

That's what I told her he is a cob with a mix of everything but she said she seriously doubted he had anything other than native I him

Aren't welsh's descended from Arabs?

I would imagine her cob is a right heinz 57 of everything! ;) At the very least I would hazard a guess most cobs have some Irish blood - or is that ok because its the same climate? If he is a show cob type, chances are he'll have some... some... some *whispers* thoroughbred in him!

I'll just tootle off to tell the Sheiks and Wetherbys about this, free copy of Mein Cobf for all.... and next time I see an endurance ride through our native forests I'll be sure to note that its clearly a figment of my imagination that all those arabs are better at negotiating our terrain at speed for longer than the natives.

haha you guys make me laugh :D...........lots

:D:D:D i didnt mean people!!!!!

oh and she also said she never got the dentist to her horse, i know some people do, i get them one every 6 months i think

is there a sitaution where they dont need rasping?

what an idiot, ignore everything she says! Really every horse should have its teeth done/checked at least once a year. Prob the reason her cob hates schooling.....its prob in agony!

Loulou2002 -

was told its ridden in a pelham even just for leisurely hacks, fair enough if your horse is super strong but I have seen it being ridden at a show un unreg m + m (again i didnt think a cob was an m+m?) and she couldnt get it to canter, why she feels the need to ride in a pelham I will never know

haha mein cobf,

somebody has to publish this!

although i must say im glad so many people agree with my original post,

The amount of times x said that I was wrong on all of the matters I addresses made me start wondering whether I was wrong....

now I know im definately right :D

nooooooooo

anyone reasonably tall wont be able to have a horse they fit on!!!

I have a 15.2hh and im on the limits! my next horse will be bigger although that wont be for a few years yet :)

and my mum will inherit java when he is old to be turned into a dressage diva

Cor excellent every time you feel a bit low and need a good laugh all you have to do is talk to her, she could become your personal stress toy, you could wind her up to distract you!!!

Perhaps she's from Iceland but no she probably couldn't ride one of their's! Even though they only allow Native Horses, she'd be in her element, suggest she emigrate?

Though seriously if she doesn't believe in doing his teeth one day placid native cob type might well give her a real surprise.

Is the Wintec cair by any chance???

Haha

Yes I think it's a wintec Cair or a wintec wide

Oh .... And thanks Lucy yes x believes a Pelham is softer than a snaffle

She doesn't like snaffles as a normal jointed one has the nutcracker effect she said that said cob had a big dint in the roof of his mouth

Hasn't she heard of a french link? Or a peanut or a roller etc etc ....

and I bet her cob is 'barefoot' and she files them herself:D

Oh, I take it back then, I was expecting her to ride in a P****** halter (daren't say the word) and treeless saddle too!

Really hope your comments are tongue in cheek.

I'm not a Parelli fan or self-trimmer, but what is wrong with barefoot and treeless saddles? I better get the farrier to put some shoes on my happily barefoot mare then, obviously I am doing it wrong!

Kirsty+Java - I`ve only read your first post but i`m convinced person X has the stable next to me!

My neighbour often makes exactly the same statements as person X, and I think she talks S**T as well.

There's nothing wrong with treeless or barefoot

I have a welsh sec c he Isn't being ridden at the mo but he is barefoot all year round although if he Is hacked he needs shoes as he hates being on the road barefoot

X tries to keep her horse as "natural" as possible which is fine however sometimes she goes to far.....

I think the comment about the barefoot was referring to the fact she doesn't get the dentist or anything and we were wondering as a joke If it was like that with the farrier ie she doesnt have one and trims them herself
