the phone rang.....It was my other half in a blind panic yelling at me that our little pony had escaped out the field and was running up and down the road!!!! This was about 10.30 ish....
Threw clothes on and jumped into car.... drove down to find loads of cars all waiting and with the help of the drivers of those cars we managed to herd him back into the confines of his field....
Then began the search by torchlight to see where exactly the little man was getting out! We found a five foot gap in the wall (hidden by overgrowth on the road side) where the stone wall has collapsed!!! So little man, just wandered out!!!
Had to go and get feed bucket with bribery items and a headcollar and leadrope off a local livery yard near to his field and then bribe him to be caught.... He's part feral and we took him on as no one else wanted him.... he's only 11.1hh!!! but boy is he petrified of adults!!
So spent another half an hour trying to catch the little thing... in the end gave up and resorted to ACP.... waited and waited and then managed to get headcollar on.... Landowners son rang us (we had been trying for ages to get hold of him) and he told us to put him in his stables for the night and they would sort the wall tomorrow...... So had to walk pony 1/2 a mile in the dark to get to the yard... I know he'd had ACP but he was so good bless him and when he got into his overnight house, he rolled and rolled and rolled in the straw!!!
So last night was colic watch, tonight was catch escapee night..... Any chance I can go to bed early tomorrow night and not get disturbed? Please!

normally in 3's!!! Am now wondering what will happen tomorrow!!!!

Very lucky though that we do check ours late at night.... either myself or OH does it.... just glad that the little man was not injured or caused major disruption on a quiet country lane!!! Oh forgot to add, the police kindly turned up, 2 hours after it being reported!!!! Thank god we were already there,!

Oh crumbs! Gosh it's all go with these darned horses eh? Well I guess it livened the evening up for you.....*chuckles*

Thankfully all was well and you can laugh about it in the morning.

Oh they are wonderful aren't they.... I did say now your here you can help catch him and he worriedly admitted he wouldn't know where to start!!! Now there's confidence for you!! I think the boys in blue should have a training course on handling and catching livestock! and then could they please send me on it as well..... I may learn some valueable tips on catching petrified ponies in the dark!

I'm laughing now, although a little worried about the "it comes in three's" superstition! if I had my way i'd stay home tomorrow and hide!

At least he is safe now.... even if we could have closed up the gap, there is no way I was going to leave him there.... well you all know what ponies are like, once they've done it once, they'll keep on at it!!! If stables hadn't suddenly become available, we would have had a 3/4 mile walk (all uphill too) to my other field, where the rest of them are..... He's kept on his own as he is a rig, so I really didn't want to put him in with them in the dark etc.... but would of so as not to compromise his safety!
Am heading off to bed now, to hopefully get some sleep!!!! z z z z z z z z

Actually thats a good idea! I have a bottle of Baileys unopened and you just reminded me of it!!! so before going to bed I gonna have a large glass of that and hope to god the phone doesn't ring tonight with more problems where I would need to drive!
