I was stressed as I couldnt really bath the pony due to the weather, then I couldnt find my hunter bridle, then it started to snow, but I thought sod it and went anyway. Pony was an absolute superstar! Hes never been to a show and never been in an indoor but he just took it all in his stride and was an absolute pleasure to deal with. My poor non horsey OH had to show him as I cant stand that much walking or in fact run at all, so it really was the blind leading the blind!

He only won his class and then went reserve champion! The judge loved him, she said when he has a bit more muscle and general condition he will be really special. You can really tell from the photos but hes still very ribby and weak, so we know hes a work in progress but hes vastly improved from when I got him 5 weeks ago. He just needs time and work but he will get there.

I couldnt be happier with my little bargain cob!

An action shot

Clever boy! Great experience for him with so many new things. Well done to all :biggrin3:

Thats why we went really. When I bought him he was terrified and really shut down, hes a million times better now but he can still be anxious and worried about new things. So I wanted to take him out, make sure he had a lovely experience, then take him home and have him realise we could go out places but would be coming back. He had a lovely time and it appears he likes showing. Not sure I can be bothered doing lots of it, but who knows! Looks like he could be quite good and it was brilliant fun even though it was below freezing and snowing outside!

The pony was FAB, but my word your OH is a superstar!

He runs for fun so trotting up a little cob was a walk in the park for him,but I think he might have found himself a new hobby whether he likes it or not  The judge was really good and guided him through. The whole show was friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend it if your in Northampton!

The prize giving pics! Ignore the state of me, I wasnt expecting to be in the ring, but they called me in to do the prize giving which was lovely of them. I cant believe we got sashes, I was like a kid at Christmas when they gave me that!

Well done to all of you! OH will be keen now that he has come home with a rosette! I am amazed at how clean and white he is, how on earth did you get him so pristine. And how nice that he was so well behaved. I also think you were mega brave to turn out to a show in February.

OH needs a good pat too.

My OH got lots of attention from all the ladies there who kept telling him what a good job he was doing, so I think he enjoyed at least parts of it

I think hes pretty grubby still! But hes been washed whenever its been over about 10 degrees then oiled to an inch of his life. Hes washed in Cowboy Magic shampoo, the one thats purple. Its magic stuff! Today we washed his legs off and spot washed any stable stains, then we covered him in a mountain of chalk and put chalk paste all over his legs. I dont like it for hairies normally but it did the job this time. When we arrived we brushed the chalk out and fluffed him up. His tail was plaited and bandaged up to travel like this:

Chalk is fabulous stuff! Think I'd have kept mine in for days in preparation, it's filthy out there. Showing is addictive if you have the transport. Is your OH huge and Leo tiny?! He towers over him!

Really well done, you look dazed and happy!

Fantastic well done! I know exactly where you went! It's lovely there, they're so supportive!
There's a showing show run at Glebe Farm (although I can't remember exactly who runs it) that is also such a fabulous atmosphere, especially for those who haven't done much of it before!
Congratulations again! He's gorgeous (the horse I mean) 😂
