I will not buy another horse....i will not buy another horse...

I would listen to as many opinions as possible, sit down and very carefully consider the arguments for and against, then do as I jolly well please :D

As you already know - I know the breeder very well - known him for about 15 years - and he's very honest, and very passionate/knowledgeable about the spotties, so you have nothing to worry about from that POV.

If you like the horse, can afford it, and don't mind having another one you can't ride - go for it. At least you know you're getting quality.

HAHA they are both nice, the darker one will make 15.3hh.

I need to win the lottery and buy my own yard :P

The breeder is lovely and knowledgable. I really like this youngster and i really dont ever feel like that. Been talking it over with mum and we will go and view in spring :)

As I said they are both very attractive horses but the one in front definitely has something special about it. How can you resist? Looking forward to the photos of his arrival with you in the not to distant future?;)

Urm..... you see me..... I would be buying the youngster, waiting to see how I get on with a youngster and let Dee have a year just being Dee.... if i then knew i was 100 % a youngster person I would then breed off Dee.

p.s. i prefer the dark one..... :) .... wonder if hubby will notice a 5th ???
:D

He won't notice ;) being dark you can hide it in the shed :p.

I love youngsters. Bought Dee as a youngster. Worried I'll start collecting them! :D

I'd do it. Heck, I *did* do it. I have a half Knabstrupper, half Trakehner, who is just about to turn four. Gorgeous creature, but I will say that they are slow to mature (physically and mentally). She's only just about ready to back now and I doubt I'll be doing anything much more than very lightly hacking her this year.

As a further thought: I also bought mine after having to retire my special girl with a back injury, having had her from a baby, and I'm sure both of these aspects played a part in in the decision to get another youngster. Two years on, hand on heart, I don't think I should have bought her. I was looking for a distraction. That said, I wouldn't part with her now. And that is a very smart looking horse there... :D

ETA: How stable are the colours from this stud? My girl was almost solid black when I bought her, with a lovely white blanket. She's now going roan in places, with scattered spots all over, and a blanket. She's not stayed the same colour one season to the next so far!

If I was in your position I'd be buying a 3/4yo instead if I wanted a youngster.
I would also factor in costs of foaling Dee and potential implications which could mean a drain on your finances.

But, that's just me! :D Good luck with whatever you decide x

discourage you?! hahaha AS IF!!!! :D

lovely youngster but i kinda agree with the others about age...however - do you want to ride like now?!

if not - then deifeinately go view!!!! :D

i was desparate to ride (i have a rising 3 year old) but i do like the groundwork etc that goes with it and can wait until next year to ride properly.........

if you can wait - do it!! :D

:D

No idea why i posted on HHO for a balanced view ;). I love doing ground work, thats not the issue. The thing thats holding me back is i am breeding dee, hopefully everything will be plain sialing but no one knows what might happen...

ok but what has that got to do with time for a youngster (im uneducated about breeding!)....?

handling wise its time for 2? (eventually 3).... money etc...

D is there in foal or not but i dont get why that has an impact if im making sense?!? (probably not.. ?:D )

fair enough :)

can always sell (youngster!?) if it didnt work out! :) stuff like that colour always sell (imo)!

or chuck out on grass livery etc... there are ways............

so ;..... when you viewing?!

:D
