I can't believe what i have just read! people have a nerve! your thread clearly states people should keep their opinions to themselves! your boy is lovely :-)

No-one has said he isn't :confused: If you don't want opinions which could potentially be different from yours it seems silly to post on a public forum.

OP - give it a go, you'll never know otherwise. He looks like a lovely chap :)

Not saying that you were expecting it...but she might have had problems from people she knows before & thought thus was the best way to deal with it :confused:

I did wonder that myself... She did suggest an extra class so doesn't appear opposed to him going to the show - just perhaps rather bad communication skills in trying to say not to have too much expectation or maybe wanting to distance herself as an organiser from any results - particularly someone she knows... Or, as JennBags says, could be a cow... :D

No she isn't judging, she is the show secretary.

Thankyou all for the nice comments. If I am honest showing isn't my thing at all, but it's his first show so thought i woudl try keep it nice & easy by doing in hand & clear round if he doesn't explode with excitment :p

Enter whatever class you like at the show, but if its a showing class expect to be judged, beauty is in the eye of the beholder:)

I wasn't upset as I know showing is all about being judged etc, it was the fact I was saying I wanted to take him for the experience so I wasn't fussed if I was placed or not I just thought there was no need to say he wouldn't get placed.
 
Just to clarify :o I would never have put something nasty about some one eles horse , see previous post on this thread!!!! I know who put it on and it was not me :(

I was careless and put my phone down , and the foot post wad added :(

Ad I have said see my first post , and apologies op for any upset, it has been massively addressed my end x
 
I think you are reading too much into it. She was clearly saying have a go at the part bred class, nice as he is you probably won't get placed but it will be good experience. There is nothing nasty in suggesting a class but making you aware that you probably won't win.

Welcome to the real world.....even ponies that are NFPCBS have a tough time..I have shown at a very high level, and still get remarks from so called Judges about my NF's...best remark is..."He doesnt step up well for a Welsh does he?"...

Idiots...

So agree with this, I have a Reg NF, most judges don't know what they're looking at :(

Ignore them! I once got asked at a show if I had "come to provide the entertainment" next week different judges and he was placed top 3 in every class. Different judges look for different things and it is supposed to be fun anyway.

Seriously though, its bad enough coming from a judge but from the show secretary ?. Many shows are struggling with entries down so what a stupid thing to say. It does make me wonder when I take mine 'for experience', he's young and its all I can do. Then on another thread a couple of days ago about showing a welsh, a poster who also stewarded agreed on a judge who commented 'why do they bother, don't they know what they have got!! :mad:

Take no notice, my NF from years ago was a very handsome boy and yours looks very similar :)
 
he is lovely and looks a real gent, but if I was posting a picture of my horse which showed its front feet and someone alerted me to the fact that maybe they looked a bit flat, as this might not have ocurred to me, then I would appreciate that opinion and look again at the feet, and not all farriers are good, and if you read up on barefeet etc etc you will find that long toes are not a good thing, so I wouldnt ignore those posts entirely, but good luck anyway and have fun!!

Yes I did post a picture, but I didn't ask for anyone to have a look at his feet etc, yes I am happy for people to ask & as I replied he doesn't have flat feet. I have had my farrier for about 7yrs & wouldn't change as they are fab, also not that you can see with the mud on his feet, but he does have shoes on & his feet may look flat, but I can assure you they aren't.

Oh dear, So not only are you having to put up with insensitive remarks regarding your horse's show quality, a thread you start has now turned into exactly that on a different matter entirely.
I think today Natz you might as well give up, I would.
 
The thing with horsey people is they always know best ;)

To some the winning of a rosette is the be all, when sometimes all you want is to go out for some fun or experiance for you and your horse.

I was on a yard once where a lady, and I call her that grudgingly, would come up to you before you had even unloaded and always say 'did you win?' Me: No I was 3rd, 'Well you won last time out, bet your dissapointed' lol. If you won then she reckoned the standerd can't of been that high, yep said that to my face. You have to laugh it off. I'm far too old to give a fook these days :p

Even the best horses have off days, thats the fun of owning them, so who's to say what will happen in the ring.

So OP get out and have some fun with your horse, trust me there will always be some stupid person saying things in the background. Rise above it :)
