Do any of you get the feeling Derby house is in trouble?
Or just balancing on the edge?

I dont want to start rumours, these are just my thoughts!

They send offer emails every day, often like today 3 time, like they are desperate for a sale.

I like a good offer but their sales only contain odd things in odd sizes!
I did recently buy a rug from them but it was like a co buy, they seemed to wait until they had enough orders until they bought them in.

Jur makes me thing they are begging for sales all of the time.
They dont seem to sell anything decent any more, the rug i bough was ok for the offer price but not of good quality, no way would i pay their rrp.

I get a bit fed up in all honesty, it is constant. I know their store in Moreton-in-Marsh closed down so wonder if perhaps they are in trouble.

I do too!

I recieved the same email 3 times today, with the same offer.
It was like they were begging me to buy something!
Other days i get two or three with different offers but still very annoying.

I might get my email address taken offf their mailing list!

There is a huge equestrian population round this area too, so they must be in some difficulty to decide to shut up one of their stores. :(

I used to defend them when people slated them off but must admit I now agree with them!

I ordered 4 items a week last Sunday, I received an email to say I had one item dispatched and the rest to follow, had one small item turn up and still awaiting the other 3.

The annoying thing is they are still showing the items as "In stock available for immediate dispatch" - what a load of rubbish.

The even more annoying thing is that one of the items I am awaiting is now being offered cheaper than I have paid and I am getting 2 emails a day telling me this bargain they have in stock when they so obviously don't otherwise why am I still waiting!

I don't think I would order from them again unless I am in no rush for the goods.

I would not be at all surprised that they may be in difficulty especially when there are other good retailers about that offer excellent customer service and good delivery times.

I've only just received some breeches that I ordered 4 weeks ago! Along with the breeches I also ordered boots that were "available to despatch within 24hrs" after nearly 2 weeks of waiting I called to chase, apparently out of stock and hadn't even bothered to let me know.

If they are desperate for sales they need to do a lot more to improve there customer service and stop lying about stock levels!

Too much hassle to order from IMO and won't miss them if they are going under.

I ordered a pair of breeches the other day, arrived 2 days later, and very pleased with them!
Haven't ordered from them often, but never had a problem.

I did a bit of temp work for them years ago, just as they started to expand. I know they have shut all the stores apart from the main one in wrightington. I also get bombarded with emails! I don't go in the store very often - they never have the right size etc of whatever I went in for, drives me mad!

I ordered a few things a few months ago, they came in dribs and drabs & then received an item a week ago that i forgot about. Do they really think that I want my item now rather than two months ago? Derby House - waste of time unless you want to receive your items 3 months later!

Bought from them once and decided after that never to use them again. Items were poor quality and their customer service was really shocking. Took several weeks, 5 phone calls, emails and a posted letter to get said item replaced and then the replacement fell apart too. I appreciate a lot of people have had success with their purchases from DH and that perhaps I was unlucky, but the experience put me off (as did reading some reviews from others).

The original DH was very very good - good quality stuff and good customer service. Then they started to expand and cater to mass market and it all went downhill from there. After a bad experience with them I vowed not to buy from there again, and plenty of bad stories on here too.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was the case, they really lost their way!

I bought a fly rug from there last year after about 3 years of not buying anything there service was crap 3 weeks for one rug and the postage wasn't cheap the fly rug i bought was good but they don't do them anymore sadly. wouldn't really mind them if they did close down

Their customer service is atrocious. If they want custom, they need to provide the service. They do not. It's only a matter of time.

I will not order from them.

I bought a pair of shoes from DH last year, and sent them back as they were too small, I waited 3 weeks for a credit to appear on my card, and ended up calling them. They confirmed they had received the shoes back and were waiting for authorisation to do the credit! Suffice to say that the very next day the credit appeared. The exact same thing happened to a friend too, so wasnt just me. In contrast I bought 3 things online from Equestrian Clearance, had a phone call the next day to say that one of the things wasnt in stock to give me the chance to change to something else, the girl on the phone was really helpful and suggested alternatives, one of which I took. The parcel arrived the next day which was amazing as it was 3 weeks before christmas. I ended up sending one item back, and had an email 2 days later to say they had received it back and the credit was back on my card within another 2 days. I couldnt recommend them highly enough, they have cracked it with customer service. Wouldnt bother with DH again for sure.

Last year I ordered on line on a 2 for 1 offer, orders jods and a fly rug. The jods didn't fit so I sent them back and asked for the next size, instead of sending me the next size they refunded me the while price of them! Therefore making the flyrug free !!! Not surprised if they go under if they can't get things like that right (fly rug lasted the whole year :-)

As much as I dislike their service they are the only ones who make stuff to fit shetlands - probably not intentionally! Their own pony size bridles are perfect for my wee beasties as are their fly rugs.

On the odd occassion that I do order from them I ring them up instead of doing it online so you can check stock levels.

I have had the same problem - ordered some items on the 15th Jan, in plenty of time (I thought!) for my competition coming up on Sunday 3rd Feb. Still hadnt heard anything in a week, so gave them a call and they were about to despatch one item, and the other 3 they were still trying to source from their suppliers and gave me some dates (Monday or Tuesday this week) when they would be despatched. I got the first item (hairnets of all things!) and surprise surprise I've still not got any emails to say the rest are on their way, and now I've given up and bought the items again from another store - I cant wait anymore when I need them for Sunday!

They are still showing these items as 'in stock' on their website, so clearly there are some problems - either they are trying the 'just in time' stock technique (where you dont hold any stock and order it from your suppliers just in time), if this is the case they are clearly not doing very well at it and are making a lot of people angry and annoyed! Alternatively they are going down the pan and their suppliers are refusing them credit to get the stock in advance, so they are having to buy their stock in once customers have paid for it.

Either way, they have just lost me as a customer, I certainly wont be using them again! Shame really because I never used to have a bad word to say about them, I love their breeches and used to get really good service. Something must be seriously wrong!

I've ordered a few things lately, on the grounds that I didn't need them, so no hassle if they were late, and the prices were good.

No trouble at all, which was very pleasing given the usual trouble I used to have with them.

They seem to not want to invest in buying stock. They will have something as available for immediate dispatch when in fact they have not even placed an order it with the manufacturer. I found this last year with some sprenger stirrups, it took them 6 months to provide them, given I had ordered them for my OHs birthday 3 months in advance I was livid when they arrived and were the wrong size. Just got a refund and bought off ebay.

The store at Wrightington is massive with less stock than a much smaller tack shop. They also seem to be mainly just doing their own brand these days. I really would not be surprised if they folded.

I get the same impression. In fact, I'm pretty sure they've had a couple of stores shut down over the last 2-3 years? Not sure on this though..

I don't buy from them anymore as I end up sending it all back cos it's crap. Either completely cheap and nasty or ridiculously expensive.

Oh! And don't get me started on their own brand rugs! Pretty sure they had one this winter for around £100 that every other day was on offer at 1/3 the price... hmmmmmm suspicious.

They used to be great until they moved from Parbold to that massive new place in Wrightington. It's all been downhill since then.
