But I finally caught him in the act - my scuzzbutt neurotic dog kneads and suckles on the corners of the pillow. :o

He's gone to sleep with it in his mouth, whimpering occasionally. I can see the sogginess spreading. I am alternately thinking yuck, I'm going to have to wash that and aww, my poor speshul dog.

I opened this thread in horrified anticipation!

Bless! He is speshul! Zak does the same with blankie, which must be paraded then held in mouth while he falls asleep.

My Lab does this...
She never did it till I bought one of those torpedo shaped quacking pheasants. She spends ages sucking hers when she's having a quiet moment.
Such babies, and it must bring comfort :)

my dog does this to a triangular fluffy squeaky and he sits for ages just pawing/kneading it and sucking on corner - have to say when he is having a "mad moment" in the middle of a good bit of tv I do go and find it and it does work - a bit like a dummy to a baby and I even have a back up one hidden in a cupboard just incase original goes missing !! :p

Given his leaky tendencies I am just relieved to find that it's saliva, not wee. :o

He's fallen asleep nomming away at it again tonight while we watch Paul O'Grady. Alternatives are being ignored - besides, squeaky pheasants last about 30 seconds in this house. :p

I bought a wainwrights squeaky robust pheasant from pah, more canvassy than fluffy, but still has a squeaker and some padding and bite to it. It's lasted 3 days so far! :D
