I tell myself every time I get a horse that this time i will NOT get attached. But I do. I can't help it, I cosset and fuss and worry no one will "understand them". i sold a 5 yo last year that i broke and schooled on and cried for weeks. I still think of him often. I was very genuine and advertised him for £2500 and let him go for £2000 to a "good home". He was worth twice that. They sold him after 6 mths for £4000! Hope hes ok, bless. xx

I'm exactly the same. I have a lovely TB that I bought to reschool and sell and he is still here. The fact he is so lovely doesnt help!
I almost need some lovely person to knock on my door and convince me they have a wonderful home they could offer him
Why do we do it?
Wish I wasnt so soft.

I would be awful too, I completely failed to sell my childhood pony when I outgrew her age 16 and thats why I now have to drive 140 miles tomorrow to collect her from her loan home as its time for her to retire with me. Actually, Im really excited, as I get hopelessly attached to my horses

Its lovely that you are like that Moneypit...im the same...sold my riding pony which I had owned for 15yrs cause I really was too big for her and was wasted with me...sold her at half the price with everything....didnt want her going somewhere with nothing...she was sold 6 months later as a companion..:0(
Ive told myself I could never sell another horse...hadnt done it before my mare and I wont be doing it again...its too heartbreaking....I completely understand where you are coming from....

I also have my first pony - she is now 30 and I couldnt bear to part with her...had her for 18yrs and she will be with me till the end same with my QH....im hopeless with animals....

that is so sweet. I gave up my first pony that I had for 12 years when I was 16 and an out of control teenager. I have regretted it ever since but at the time it was best for her. It has always haunted me
