Went to a Hunter Trial today. We were in the Car Park and a trailer comes in with the front top door open and a black cob with its head stuck out whilst travelling just like some people allow their dogs to do in cars. Not seen this before - do I need to get out more as it happens regularly or is it unusual ?

This is one of my big bug bears, as it happens more and more regularly, I once saw it on a motorway ffs!! Technically you could argue that they are falling short of the reguirements of the welfare of animals (transport) order, though without an injury occuring it's a hard one to prove. It's only a matter of time though......

I see it more and more often now! Do the trailer companies state that it is unsafe to leave them open when travelling? If not I think they should!

I tried to point out the dangers of this to someone transporting a horse from my old yard recently, who just thought I was being paranoid...

Sigh...

exactly blucanoo, it makes my stomach churn thinking about what could happen. It makes me think of my OH telling me about a man he used to work with having his eyeball ripped out on a big thorn, when driving through underbrush with his Landy window open :o
