I was told by the breeder I bought my British Shorthair from that Iams tests its food on live animals with their stomachs cut open to see the effect on their digestive system.

Is this an urban myth?

Whilst I have no idea exactly what goes on, Iams do test on Animals.

(Although that could be because they are owned by P&G, so rather than actually testing on animals, they are merely linked! I have no real idea and google-ing just comes up with lots of hysterical PETA claims!)

Yes I have heard that, but as most of the propoganda seems to be put out by PETA I take it with a pinch of salt. However, there are plenty of better foods than Iams/Eukunuba imo.

I don't wish to offend anyone, and who knows if this is propaganda or the genuine article, but there are many videos out there of Iams-related dog testing.

I'm not sure why testing is even necessary for dog food. Perhaps it has much to do with all the fillers and junk contained in the average commercial feed.
