Call me naive, but I knew nothing about this. I've never fed the stuff, never will, obviously.

I'm amazed at all the smart advertising on the TV: are people really that stupid that they never look beyond the adverts?

No comment :p

Ooooooohhh...shiny fing on da tellybox......da doggies are all astronauts flying through space!
(My dog WILL be an astronaut in space before he ever gets fed that multicoloured mulch)

It happens in all sorts of advertising, all yer vitamins and minerals and the essential things to keep you fit and healthy and strong and sexy, this car will make women think you're a studmuffin, this sugar-packed, hyper-activity inducing drink will make your children clever, this skin cream will make you look 40 years younger and blah blah blah...I did Media Studies for my sins, it was a bit of an eye opener.

never fed it myself but what's wrong with it ?

-waits to be shot-

Won't get shot:) I'm not sure what's wrong with it either.

I've never fed it as I heard they did dodgy experimentation with it - not sure if that's true or not.

But I have fed Bakers in the past:o I didn't know it was wrong....!

Case in point Oberon - bet you fed it because it was cheap and heavily advertised (subliminaly - dog food = Bakers) and available everywhere you looked?

Yep. It is available at the supermarket and the local shop.

It was awkward to get to the big store due to work and even when I did go - I was overfaced with choices:(

I am pretty good with equine nutrition, but hopelessly ignorant of dog nutrition.

Starting on the raw is teaching me a lot.

Why have I wasted so much money on crap all these years?!

I've done Dr Kellon's NRC Equine Course. Perhaps I should do her dog and cat course?

Jeez, don't feel bad, we used to feed a brand called Favour for years, which looks more like horse feed than dog feed, the dog lived to 14 but I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole now I know what is in it, or not in it, more importantly - meat of any description!!!

That would be erm muesli then? LOL

A friend of mine used to feed her dog that muesli and she had a big problem with rats. Once the rat man found out what she was feeding her dog he told her to stop as it was passing undigested and the rats were feeding on it.:eek:How gross it that.

Sorry, I am confused? You knew nothing about what??

I must be very ignorant as I had no idea and feed my dog Iams:mad:
Will change to Webeloved from today (is that a good brand:confused:) I did not realise what a minefield all this was. Thank you for that link. My vet recommended Iams:(

Wa IAMS also included in the mass dog food recall in the USA a few years ago?

Both my old dogs were fed it and both ended up with kidney failure and were put to sleep within 2 weeks of each other. I don't know if it is related to IAMS but a lot of dogs in the states were apparently dying from similar problems to mine which were linked back to bad batches of certain dog feeds.

Oh goodness. Biscuit was fed Bakers when we first got him as we didn't know what else to get.

He now is on Pedigree, Pets at home special blend and meat (usually bits of what we have beef ect)

DOn't shoot me for him being on Cereal, I live at home and mum is point blank refusing to feed raw

Why oh why do you lot feed dry crappy food?? ALL of it is byproducts..to use a polite word..so why don`t you just get butchers scraps? You`d save so much money and your dogs would look so much better.
I can get 10 kilos of wonderful fresh frozen chook frames for £10.00,a lab working hard only needs two a DAY,I would NEVER feed dry as a complete, just never ever could. Would you expect a good mother to feed big macs every day to their child? Though in fact from a child`s nutrition point of view that would be better than you feeding dry crap.

OK so if I accept that I am not doing well for my little JRT who had a very sensitive stomach when a puppy and had to be fed ID food for 6 months, and I do not want to do raw - what should I feed?
Please someone advise me now as I really am worried:(

Fish4dogs or fish4puppies.

Ok I will try and look up stockists over the weekend. Is Welbeloved no good then?

Will let you know how I get on:) Thank you everyone.

Just hideous to see that footage of Iams. My dog is fed raw but my cat who is longer with us, used to be fed Iams. I, in my ignorance, thought I was feeding a good quality food. Shows how wrong you can be

I feed JWB too mixed with either nature diet or something similiar. The male staffie is on the same meat but the Hills mobility biscuit as he has displaysia. Not knocking that as he had been on all kind of medication, then injections and was looking at an operation on both front elbows. Since feeding the Hills he is completely sound and the injections were last given nearly a year ago. They also get the Pedigree dental chews but only 1 a day. They make a massive difference to the clean teeth (vet was very pleased with the older girl) but I treat them as dog sweets!

Thank you all for your recommendations. I have ordered some samples of fish4dogs and also orijen so I will see which she likes the best:D I have also ordered her some fishy treats too.

This was due to a batch of ingredients supplied by China that had a plastic in it (melamine I think). Made in China ....
