Ian Deer Appleby!!

But the situation is not quite as simple as portrayed by the H&H article. From http://www.thisisthenortheast.co.uk/display.var.2064234.0.court_hears_how_pony_drowned.php

"None of his actions were intentional the situation just got out of control," said Geyve Walker, mitigating for Deer.

Mr Walker said one witness asked an RSPCA inspector if she should do something.

"She said 'no this is just part of the customary process of washing the horses in the river' so even someone with the expertise of an RSPCA inspector did not think to intervene."

Hmmmm. . . . So the RSPCA & CPS are expecting a man who has virtually no experience of horses to somehow know more than the experienced RSPCA Inspector who was at the scene watching?

How is it that the inspector is not in the dock with him? After all, she has a duty to act to protect animals and yet has clearly failed.

Yes, hear hear! I've been to countless horse sales where RSPCA have stood by and watched needless suffering go on - they either need to be given more rights or get their act in gear. Not impressed with the RSPCA at the mo, can u tell? lol

I agree that the RSPCA don't know it's Ass from it's elbow when it comes to horses, but to say that drowning the horse because he got caught up in the excitement is rubbish. If he did not know the effect of his actions, why the hell did he tie a rope around the horse's nose and drag it under the water?
the pictures show him on the pony's neck pushing it under.
What did he think the effect of that would be?
If he is playing the "i don't know much about horses" card, if the pony had survived, what would he do with when he left the fair? leave it in field to be discovered dead? Then the RSPCA would do something at least.
