Hi all, I’m after some advice if anyone has been through anything similar. My horse started loosing weight & diarrhoea over 2 months ago. Many vet visits later & it turns out he had C.Diff, treated. It turns out he has grade 2 ulcers and suspected IBD from his blood results. He’s extremely vet shy/dangerous so it is hard to get any tests/ investigations done. Last week he colicked (once vet arrived he went into freak mode and seemed to be ‘ok’. Since this he hasn’t been eating his feed or hay, only grazing. When he does eat he is coming across as in such pain. I’m at a loss of what to do. The vets said the medication can take time, but it’s been a while now and with his nature around vets, I don’t know what’s best to do next. I see a very different side to him than the vets see so it’s hard with him being so dangerous with them.
He’s on misoprostol, steroids and fibrocox. Does anyone have any experience with these drugs and how long they took to work etc?
Many thanks, from a very worried horse mum
