Iberian horses - how much?

How much should I be looking at spending for an Andalusian or Lusitano? I will want something to mostly do dressage with (I ride at about BD novice standard but want to progress further and do some affiliated competing), and some small jumping, never more than 3' SJ, 2'6" XC, all nice fun stuff. So definitely not a world-beater, and not a stallion. I'm not fussed about having a PRE/PSL, part-breds are fine as are decent 'un-papered' horses.
What is the least amount of money I should be looking at saving up? The prices on some of the UK importers' sites seem to me to be slightly extortionate...?
 
It all depends whether you want a young, green horse or something that is established. There seem to be a couple of horsemart, 4 years old, that are around the £2k mark. Then the sky's the limit - you can pay anything really.
 
I currently have a couple of grand stashed. If I ever manage to find a job I hope to have a couple more to play with by winter, but no more than that really so I definitely couldn't afford something very established. Safety is the key with me, as long as I feel safe I can happily play with a youngster (I have brought on a youngster before, although I wouldn't be looking at anything under 5yo really).
I'm looking at some websites that are quoting £10k+ for 6yos and I can't work out if that is what the going rate is, or whether these are just the specialist importers who have mastered the art of wheedling money out of people!!
 
Well, we got ours (andalusian x TB) about 3 or so years ago for £2650 as a 4 yo for my sister. He'd not done much but been to a couple of shows for experience and started jumping. He's turned out to be brilliant and loves his jumping and eventing, is very bold but calm and steady and is a nice person too. People always comment on his looks etc. i think though people are realising how versatile and how good temperament wise Andalusian and Andalusian crosses are though so you could be hard pressed to pick up one for £2000 in my opinion unless it had not done anything. Still worth keeping a lookout!

Not dressaged trained when he came over but quiet and been backed for a good few years, 8 years sold part bred no papers. Not sure if he'll go past Novice Aff though. But that's more me than him.

So they're out there if you look. They are really nice people horses but they do have a spook in them from time to time

In Spain they back early so 6 is usually quite established, hence the price hike.

you can also pick up some nice cruzados (part breds) from Portugal that are lovely. they arent papered but many look just like and move like lusos for a fraction of the cost

buying lusos from Portugal can really unsettle them though-have known of some that have really struggled.they really are kept very differently over there on the whole. they can be very hot and reactive-take somoene with you that knows them and you. best horses ever though
