We had to grit the pavement before we even stepped out of the front door - alarm bells ringing already....got half way to the yard, went down a slight hill, lost control of our faithful landy and ended up in a hedge  Fortunately I had my trusty shovel with us, and we were able to grit ourselves out.

Just ahead of us, no less than 7 cars were stuck, and there were no grit bins on that side - so we tried to take as much to them as we could. Police there, roads closed everywhere now, total chaos.

So my lovely YO is doing Shy on full livery today, bless her. We gave up and came home - this is North Yorkshire.

Hope everyone is ok out there. x

It's pouring rain here in Leicestershire :( yesterday was freezing fog all day. I wonder what tomorrow will bring?

Glad you're ok :) I hate driving in icy conditions as I've skidded a few times:eek:

Roads and fields lethal today - water on top of ice and unthawed ground! Have turned mine out as normal as we still have enough grass cover, but certainly can't ride yet....

Glad you are ok and that the HHO'ers keep safe x

Absolutely awful this morning. I managed to get to the yard in one peice just - but it was really nerve wracking. Skidded a substantial distance down the lane, thank god for ABS and then arrived at the gate sideways. Got out of the car and couldn't stand upright. Was really quite worried about leaving again....

There was rainfall overnight that then froze just before dawn and there was freezing fog - urgh. Horrible experience driving today, disorientating and stressful.

I shouldn't laugh really, but it's so icy in our garden that Percy Pup's legs were sliding away from him as he was having his morning pee - he was sooo confused

Also in northyorkshire and we've just got rid of most of our ice. Been really bad last few days, had to go round getting grit to get out of the yard the other day as it's down a hill.

Today it's just wet but ground is still frozen solid. Glad your ok and managed to get out of the hedge!

My horse is a 3 min walk away from my house - it took me 25 mins this morning! I was ok where there was a grass verge but could not even get a foot down on anything else so had to crawl....yes....crawl on my hands and knees pushing my horses food bucket along on the road to get to the next section of grass verge! Flippin awful. I managed to get to work ok by driving really slowly and keeping to the flat route in the 4x4.
The local school bus came off the road into a ditch with all the children in it...I so hope everyone is ok. It was shocking today and I am pleased for the rain and higher temps.

I Got to the stables jsut fine didn't notice any ice got in and out the car no trouble walkin from tack room to my horse stable with full bucket of feed skid fell flat on my arse and threw is bucket of feed all over me!

We've had ice all week bar today, and now it's rain rain rain. Again. I think I prefer the frost to this wet mess.

Trouble we had was that it had obviously warmed up in the night and rained a bit and then the temperature had dropped before sunrise and refrozen everything. There was horrible freezing fog in the hills too.

Lots of roads that would normally be gritted were sheet ice as it was unexpected.

Its poured down nearly all day here and got rid of a heck of a lot of the ice. Looks like it never happened now, apart from a few droppings that are frozen to the ground in the turnout area still!

Hope you're all ok. Its not forecast to freeze.

Quack quack...that's how I felt after my lesson:( I didn't notice how wet it was as I was busy trying to listen and obey but got home to find I was soaked right through. Im ever so pleased with my body protector...warm and dry..yeah. Now sitting with hot cuppa and warming up.
Still heavy rain here so i expect we'll have floods again by tomorrow...not good. Keep safe everyone..
Pottamus..you must have been quite a sight :D

Well it seems it just wet out there now, ans is warmer - just one of those fluke things I think. I can't tell you how much I miss my boy and sorting him out - just one day :o
