Took the Ned monster out today 
He was much better at letting me on. I got another lady to hold him and he was very good! He was also much better leaving the yard. No shouting or anything! He just went
I was very aware of ice today, I was constantly on the lookout and spotted a few patches. However, despite me being super vigilant, there was one patch I didn't see and he slipped. It took him a second to regain his balance but it was clear he was thinking the situation over very carefully. Normally I try and help horses out of tricky spots like this, but it was obvious he was going to handle it much better than me. Instead of panicking, he decided to take very small baby steps until he was clear of it! What a clever boy ^^
I for one am darn glad I carry a whip! I headed down a bridlepath and it was starting to get over grown again :\ plenty of thorns that I would be picking out of my arms and legs right now, had I not been able to move them with the whip!!
After the over grown track....my worst fears became reality.
Other horses!
Ned likes to be with other horses, it's been the most difficult habit of his to break and I'd just stopped him looking at horses in fields, but until now, we'd never met horses being ridden and at such close proximity. I was ready to jump off and lead him home, in case it all went to pot...
But it didn't. He had a look at them and just kept on going!! SO so so so so proud of him
Then we went to the ford to check out if it was still flooded. It was a bit deeper than usual, but nothing impressive. I decided to go that way anyway. I think he secretly likes going in the water
Got home, I'm so very pleased with him
Farrier at 2pm today! I do hate holding him, but oh well, I have to get used to it!!
