Brushing boots I think you should actually be glad you missed it on this occasion!!
Vickijay we are both still getting used to it but I found it a significant improvement and I think made the key difference in the conditions with just that slight extra brakes to come home safely. Had one or two moments when she objected with head in air but nothing as strong as when I put her at home in a Pelham/kimblewick/continental gag!! And they are decreasing rapidly as I find the ideal level of pressure/braking with it.
