Ideal / Barnsby saddles

I'll try and keep this brief as I know this isn't a strictly CR post but as a 'lurker' in this part of the forum I value the opinions of you lot!!

I love Ideal and Barnsby saddles so decided to contact them direct after being less than impressed with the saddle fitters in my local area.

The Barnsby saddle fitter that covers my area is Hilary Vernon the 'bitting lady'. So do any of you guys have any experience of her saddle fitting??

Secondly, Ideal won't deal direct with the public so can anyone recommend a saddle fitter in the Essex/ Hertfordshire area who is prepared to help you find the right saddle for your horse rather than just sell you what's in the back of his/her van!!

Barnsby are very very good with their customer service, and really want their prducts to do the job well, so I cant imagine they would employ anyone who wasnt going to do a good job. Sorry I havent any experience of Hilary directly. Have Ideal recommended anyone to you?

Best saddle fitter I've ever used is Mark Fisher in Wisbech - he is quite busy but he would probably travel to Essex. He fits both Barnsby and Ideal and is very genuine - he wouldn't sell me a saddle when he couldn't find something that fitted.
 
Thanks for the replys, Ideal did give me a couple of names but only of local fitters who I have already used, may have to try calling again though for some fitters further afield.

Kit279 - Would love to use Mark Fisher, have only ever heard good things about him but he won't come this far to me which is a real shame!!
 
If you can be bothered to go to Wisbech, he has an arena where you can try out the saddles. That's what I did and I can pretty much guarantee it's worth the trip.
 
Really, can I go to him?? Had no idea, would be about a two and half hour drive but def sounds like it would be worth it.

ISZ - yes I would be prepared to travel if you could recommend anyone else.

Bridlepath International are near Bury St Edmunds and are recommended Barnsby fitters - highly recommend them. Fabulous service and nice people!
 
I use Martin Wilkinson, he is in he is just off J22 of the M25. He sells 2nd hand ideals as well as his own new "branded" ideals. He made me an ideal to measure a few years back but I don't know if he does Barnsby. We go there for fitting as you have a better choice of saddle to try, they have a school.
 
Have you tried Mill saddlery, Stowmarket.

Alison from there helped me find the 'right' ideal for a difficult to fit mare, she was very helpful and listened to our requirements as well as carefully observing the way the horse moved. I am very happy, so is the horse!
