I've finally got my head round selling my saddles, the VSD sold to a fitter when she came to look at the jessica on my share horse.

The Jessica I bought second hand as a 17" MW, and the VSD F also wore was a 17" MW but on taking photos to sell I note that if the size stamp was there it seems to have worn off, and there doesn't seem to be a serial number other than the BS number on the stirrup bars.
Ideal site says top right of nearside flap- there may be a slight trace of a single digit but sort of looks like that on the off side too.

Can see Society master saddlers stamp with ID 116 under it (I presume that's a SMS linked number?)
and spring tree and made in england on the near side, and spring tree and made in england on the off side but nothing useful size wise, any ideas?
Happy to tell buyers why I am describing it as that size but easier if in black and white.

I wasn't quite sure what the question was but on re-reading would simply recommend that you show photos of you measuring the seat correctly (mid nail head to mid cantle) and from back of cut back to middle of cantle, then show a clear, square on photo from the front, with the tree points at the mid point of the photo, so taken with pommel at the top and at least half the length of the flaps.

All photos should be square on, no odd, wonky shots, I had a blog post for this but my site is down for rebuilding. Get down level with the saddle for all side on shots, and square on looking down for photo of seat and channel width.

Buyer beware in absence of an ID number (which most won't go and enquire about anyway). ID and seat size can wear off over the years, especially if not stamped in deeply enough.

Thanks sbloom, sorry for being a bit vague, yes I think it was probably between the SMS stamp and the made in England one but has worn (and prob the same with the serial number too) although it’s in generally good nick.
I was just wondering if there was anywhere else tucked away I should be looking over with a stronger light ?.
I love it but it’s already several years since it’s been on a horse and realistically if I ever manage another one a 17.5 would be better, I wouldn’t be buying a 14.2 welshie ?

No, as you say stirrup bar is a British standards number, though some have the width stamped after (which is nonsense, as most wooden trees can be adjusted a little). There won't be anything else on the saddle.

Yes the vsd had been adjusted to F’s template when he got older, which is why when the saddle fitter asked if I’d sell it I agreed because I knew it would be trickier to describe. Even if it did feel like the end of an era proper ?

If you think it might fit mine, let me know. I want another dressage saddle but haven't gotten any further than thinking about it so far!
