Hi, as the title really. Anyone got a Jessica or Suzannah or swopped from one to the other? Whats the difference between them? My saddler has said that Will may need the Jessica as it comes up wider than the Suzannah but I like the blocks on the Suzannah! We are at novice level dressage. Thoughts please

Suzannah every time. Its a more modren design and more comfty for the horse.
If you are petite/short legged the Roealla is the same panels/design but a narrower twist so more comfty for the short legged rider. If that makes sense!

I ride my cob (the coloured in my sig) in the Ideal Jessica and I love it, had to go for that as Bodey is WIDE, I tried a lot of other saddles but the Ideal Jessica was just the best fit for him and me (large bottom on a short backed horse).
I’m riding at unaff Novice.

I have riding in both and the Suzannah is FAR better imo. the blocks on the suzannah are more supportive for your leg position whereas I found the flaps on the jessica, too much between me and the horse.

That said, I am a shorty.

Never seen a Suzannah but had a Jessica once and it did me no favours. It seemed to tip me forwards a lot and I felt as if I was always sitting on it rather than in it.

Yes, I am a shorty too. Will is wide and short coupled and I think that the Jessica has a deeper seat than the suzannah, but the latter is a much more supportive saddle from what I can see

I am off to the saddler on Friday - after weeks of physio on this horse, we have been cantering under saddle again for about a month. I just cant afford to get it wrong. My budget is £1K+ so I should get something decent.

I agree Gamebird- the Jessica is just hideous to ride in! Yet others just love it. Its like marmite!

Hope saddle fitting goes well Wilburforce

You definately need to ride in it. I originally ordered the rouella as it was meant to be better for petite riders but when it came I sat in both and actually preferred the suzannah. I have never ridden in the jessica but it comes highly rated, I can vouch for the suzannah though I love it. Have had problems with saddles slipping and tipping me forward but not a days trouble from the suzannah

Another vote for the Suzannah. I've had mine for nearly a year and love it. I find it very supportive and comfortable to ride in and it sits beautifully on my horse (solid ID X).

I hate the Jessica to ride in - its a well made saddle but doesn't suit me at all and gives me backache.

On the other hand I have a Suzannah and honestly think its the nicest saddle I've ever ridden in.
