Hi there, to cut a long story short I was in a pretty bad car crash at the start of the week. The car roof had to be cut off as well as my door. Unfortunately my saddle was in the back, and when I went to collect it from the car they'd put the car roof and door on top of it. I thought it was fine, however now I look there are creases on the seat and under the saddle that suggests the tree is broken. I only paid £200 for the saddle however its worth probably about £700 or more as it was in mint condition. It's the best fitting saddle I've had, I'm just wondering if it's worth getting the tree Replaced, has anyone had this done and got a rough price it cost them?

Sorry to hear of your accident, I hope you are not too badly hurt, sounds awful!

Your best bet would be to contact Ideal and ask.

Also worth making enquiries with your insurance company as it should be covered along with the contents of the car.

That's great!

Just be aware not every saddle will be as good when a new tree is put in and I would suggest the fact its creased will not help , I suggest you claim on insurance and get another the same. I think your idea of paying 200 for a saddle that you think is easily worth £700 is a tad optimistic most new saddles halve in value as soon as you sit on them.

My insurance only covers up to £300, and considering my saddle had been used once maybe twice and I bought it for £200 when it's value new was over £1200 I think I got a pretty good bargain and I'm not gonna find one the same for the insurance money. When I say creases, it has very slight creases on the side of the seat, the leather doesn't ripple if that makes sense. I'd rather try and get it fixed if possible and try, I don't care about the resale value I just meant it's too good a saddle to write off for the sake of a few hundred pounds to fix it :)

The problemis you can spend £200 and be left with a dud putting new trees in is not always successful Which insurance are you talking about the saddle or the car? To be honest all mine are on my household insurance as specified sporting goods which is new for old.
