Following on from the thread below about saddle...

I am looking at getting smoke his first leather saddle now I know he isn't planning on doing anything silly and breaking it. I think I want an ideal, but obviously will need it to fit him most importantly, so who has had good/bad experiences with them? Who likes/dislikes them and why?

Thanks in advance :)

I love my Ideal, it is so comfy.

Had it made to template for my boy and its just fantastic.

My sister has one as well for her fell mare and its just as good. Both are working hunter saddles

I have had several, different types on different horses, they all fitted really well I know the saddler is important but 2 I picked up 2nd hand and they fitted perfectly, the saddler made no adjustments when he came to check them.
One mare had been very difficult to fit and came to me as a last resort for behaviour issues, these were resolved almost immediately by the Ideal that fitted her correctly.
A client had a dressage saddle M2M it is lovely and cost £1k all in so a real bargain.
They are nice comfy saddles for horse and rider and I think they are very good value for money, better quality than many in the price range.

I had an IDEAL, it was great, I loved it and it was soo comfy!! Unfortunately it was too big for my bum  but given the chance I'd buy one again!

I have two Ideal saddles - Working Hunter and Jessica and I love them both. :D Both really comfy for both me and the horse! Would reccomend them!

I have both a gazelle jumping saddle and an tonishia dressage saddle and I love them both. The Gazelle has always fitted 100%, sometimes im not so sure on the Tonishia, but it never needs much doing to it to make it ok again :)

i have an ideal international event in a nice brown colour practically brand new. Very nice saddle! now sold the horse and its no where near wide enough for my new neddy! so will be trading it in for something else!

I have had an international event for 8 years (same one). Had it for my sporthorse then had native ponies so it got put away and forgot about. When i got a rather lively TB last year I got her a new Berneys saddle. Looked great, was a great fit but I never really took to it so out came the ideal again. I can honstly say it is really the most fabulously comfy and secure saddle and she seems to be very happy and free moving. Has saved me too on one or two hairy whip round moments!!!!!!!! So highly reccommend you give them a try

Not got a bad word to say about them! I've had 2, a GP from new and a Jessica dressage saddle second hand and loved them both.

Sadly I think I'm going to have to say goodbye to the Jessica as it isn't fitting the lad but hoping when the saddler comes out next week to fit a new saddle for us that there will be an Ideal amongst them that's suitable.

I've had 3 new 1350 I think one for each horse wouldn't have anything else, unfortunately I lost one horse so now have a 17inch narrow in wardrobe, doing nowt.

Well, this has boosted my confidence in purchasing one!

Looking for a black 17/17.5inch if anyone knows of one for sale!!

Mon, would you be looking to sell yours? If so, how many inches d to d is it? Xx

Would be looking to sell it but havanna colour will measure if ok and could perhaps have it to try, I am in topside of Bedford.

Ah, no worries! Smoke already has 2 synthetic saddles, a brown Lovett and ricketts, but as its brown I don't use it, so I'm looking for a black one now, sorry!

I've got ideal event saddle. Had it for 10yrs now & been worth every penny. Had mine made to a template & I had it made with the square cantle, the wider seat & it has bobbly leather is on the seat. Still cleans up nicely & it's really comfy.
