Ideas for a horse that is seriously napping?

Glad this has resurfaced as having similar problems with my mare. A good telling off only seems to make things worse so interested to read the advice re: waiting it out. I like my youngster so hoping I can sort it out!

Err, you are letting her off with it of she is dumping you and pixxelling off home. This is not napping, [well maybe it is], she is just "in control"
I suggest you get a strong and more experienced rider to sort her out.

Rafferoo, good luck! I've just turned a corner with mine. We did a lot of work on the ground to make him respect me and then any sign of tension when we rode he got a smack. He's the type that constantly needs to have his mind kept busy so a lot of transitions, flexions, shoulder in etc.

If he's bored it gives him time to think about napping so just try to keep him as active and thinking as much s possible. And good luck!
