Happy Friday from a miserable Manchester. Bit of a different one! I've just moved into my own flat by myself after years of sharing which now means i have 4 rooms, a staircase and hallway to fill with all of my own stuff rather than cramming in one room (I am very excited by this!)

I have various professional pictures of Toby from shows that i've bought but I was thinking about having a photoshoot done so that i can get them printed and have a bit of a collage wall (I have basically accepted my single spinster life so why not adorn my walls with pictures of the spotty beast!)

So I am looking for ideas on what do in the photo shoot - I am not a natural posing person and feel a bit silly so I want them to look nice, has anyone had a photo shoot done? Any tips? What should I ask the photographer to do?

And then secondly has anyone done this before and displayed them? Any ideas on how I can display them? Looking for some inspiration :)

As said, the photographer should speak with you to see what you want and they will guide you with regards to poses - to me it's about the connection between horse and owner so shots where you are touching them/looking into their eyes/your head against theirs.
If you have a wooden gate - you and horse behind it with you leaning on it facing camera, horse in stable doorway with black background (these are popular just now).

As for arranging them, I'm not sure on that. You will need to consider whether you want prints/photographer could put together a montage for you/canvases etc.

Not sure on poses but to display you could get one of those multi display photograph things. I got one to put photos of my horse in it. Not full yet but planning on adding to it as time goes by.

The photographer will come up with ideas and know how to pose you, thats part of their job ;) (nothing worse than someone coming to me and telling me exactly what they are going to do when really they should trust the photographer...). All photographers have different styles so look at examples of their work and see which you like the most so it'll fit your style. They will also have products to offer you afterwards, theyll know best how to display them. Personally Id advise not just buying a pile of prints and trying to do your own - your photographer will be able to source high quality frames and know how to lay them out beautifully.

This guy - Mathew Seed - is awesome imo. I love his work and general style. Not to everyone's taste but gives you some ideas for images and poses. As for display ... have a look at house interior web sites and magazines to get ideas for displaying pictures in groups, styles for frames etc. I do a bit of horse photography myself but don't presume to tell people how and where they should hang their pictures. Lucky you to have your own place to decorate. Have fun.

Its not presuming to have a price list with certain products which the photographer has selected to best suit the type of photography they do. Its all part of the service, do you not offer any products (just digitals or prints)? I never tell people how/where to hang their images, I just suggest what would look lovely depending on the type/number of images they like as their favourites. Id never force anyone to buy anything by any means, they can still buy just digitals for example if they prefer then they can go away and get their own frame done but most of my clients will take a frame from me as they know they're high quality.
