I took my boys corner manger out of his stable when i got him as i know its better for him to be fed from the floor.
Originally he was fine. I use a shallow tub trug to feed him. He has now decided every night to stick his front foot in it almost immediately and tips it all in his bed (shavings) Are there any floor feeders i can use that he cant tip up or will i just have to put a corner manger back in?

I did the tyre thing for a while. It did work but it just got on my nerves having the tyre there really.

Now I feed him out of a massive tub trug. I think it's a 45 litre one. He still kicks the living daylights out of it but it's so big he can't get his foot in to tip it over.

If you find the solution, let me know? Mine thinks tyres are great playthings (but ignores the stable toys that are provided) and is genius at tipping any feed bowl or bucket I have tried into his bed.

Dentist has advised haynets and mangers are not in fact the work of the devil, so I gave a corner manger a try, but he sometimes removes that using a knee and plays with the manger part.

Best way of dealing with it I found was to just clear a bit of floor and tip the feed onto it. That seems to meet with Sir's approval!

Maybe get an old stone trough? I have one of these for my mare as she likes to kick food around the stable. She can't do it with this though! Bit of a pain to clean admittedly but mine doesn't take up too much room TBH. Frankly though I never really get this thing about everything being fed off the floor. What about travelling with a haynet? This can't be done from the floor but nobody thinks twice about it? I think as in my case if horses are spending plenty of time out in the field with their heads down all day, personally the few minutes it takes them to gobble down their tea surely can't be that detrimental can it? I'm assuming you feed his hay at floor level also?

I use the full size tub trugs - TB spends all his eating time digging at it with his front foot but never got a foot inside it yet. They do tip them and play with them once they are empty but if you buy the good ones (as opposed to the cheap ones which last about 10 minutes) they survive. Some of mine are over 5 years and have been used daily.

I still have some of the original ones which were black when the lick was large and square here is three of the ones I have I have more

I think I'd just go back to a manger. Unless the horse is getting huge amounts of bucket feed, the time spent on eating it is really quite short compared to the time spent eating forage. I'd prioritise feeding forage from the ground, and not worry too much about the position of the bucket.
