On a lovely new yard with lovely new YM. There is one existing livery from previous. It's a lovely yard, amazing hacking and school. But appears a lot of people know its dodgy past of prev tennants, high turnover and some bitching.

The YM is completely from out of area and knew none of its past, I know none of the real details. YM wants it for long term as wants a yard to settle in and run how she wants it.

Just wondering anyone have any ideas to get new liveries in??

There is me and another livery here along with the YM and we have all enjoyed hours of hacking together and pub rides already.

Unfortunately, reputation goes a long way and it can take time for a bad one to be shaken off. The best chance is word of mouth. If I were the new YM, I would post notices in all the local horsey places advertising the yard as 'under new management', could even try the local paper, etc. Hope it fills up soon :)

Can only ditto Clare85, but I also wanted to say that your pitapata ticker isn't showing in your siggy Toffee44. Try going to the pitapata site http://pitapata.com/ , select "IMG url" instead of whatever you're using, copy the Image url and paste it in you siggy, and hopefully it will show up in your siggy again.

How about an open day? Ask local newspaper to do a story on the yard under new management? Although really the best way is through word of mouth

The only way is to build a new reputation from scratch, which takes time, and is only possible by being fair, polite, friendly and businesslike at all times. You can speed it up by finding or creating different ways to get in contact with people - perhaps offer the facilities free of charge to local riding clubs for a period of time? Or host open shows and events? Running a super-organised show and being mega friendly to everyone, and even little things like liking or replying to all comments on your yard or event facebook page, are very quick ways to get the word out. Does your YM teach? Could she offer her services for riding clubs etc, again to get to know people and let her see how nice she is?

Once you get the profile and reputation sorted, liveries ought to follow very easily, but places like livery list and local tack shops are always worth doing. Make sure there's a good web site with lots of info, and put on something about the YM so that people feel they are getting to know a person, and it also helps to make it clear the people have all changed!

Roughly what area are you in? Is there a show/competition venue around where you could advertise in a programme or distribute leaflets?

New name and word of mouth ive watched some doomed places turn themselves around, having clinics and rallies if you have the facilities, make sure all is tidy and well kept all the time, have a bit of a change around, bring in some nice new potted plants, and all the said above, its only visual changes, but make it a move inviting place visually and practically
