Can anybody other some ideas? I am very lucky that I have my own horse at home but the hacking around my area is not very good. I have never come across any bridleways. I am lucky that with my husband being a farmer. I can go up 2 lanes but they are dead ends. So, I just have to keep turning round and going up and down the lanes. Can anybody offer some advice on exercises or ideas to keep the horse and me interested? I do box up and go for rides with friends. But with the nights drawing in, I am struggling to do that option now and only at weekends! Thank you.

There must be bridleways, surely? You can buy OS maps of your area which will show you where they are. Alternatively, nowt wrong with a bit of lateral work, backing up etc to add interest. And if your husband is a farmer, does he have any stubble fields you can gallop on?

Well, that is a bummer.

OS Select lets you get your local map so you can see where those sneaky bridleways are hiding. You'd want the explorer map, rather than the landranger map.

As Tracey01 says, some councils offer this service and I have found Surrey CC's interactive map to be very useful in finding new routes to explore.

As arizona says, I am surprised you have no Bridleways, look on your local councils web site if you don't want to buy a map and check for Bridleways and By-ways.

Buy yourself an Explorer Ordanance Survey map of your area. You can buy them online from Ordanance Survey web site. They are only about £5.00.

I would also persuade your husband to leave margins around the edge of the fields for you and your friends to ride round?
