Ideas For Hairdo That Can Survive Hats/quick To Style?

At the moment I have long hair, few layers chopped in but nothing exciting. Pros are that it's easy to tie back around the horses & during the day it's quick to whack it back in a messy bun or a pony tail. Problem is I don't think this sort of hairdo is conveying that I'm professional at work & sometimes looks a bit scruffy, so am tempted for a change. Don't want to go shorter than a bob & it needs to be quick to style. If it can be refreshed after a ride so that I can head out without having to shower/blow dry then that would be fab. Any suggestions greatfully received & if you have pics that would be really helpful.

Was having same conversation with friend about my hair which has always been long and tied back till about 3 or 4 years ago when I got a bit shorter so is just below shoulder length in a neat but long enough to tie back bob with a fringe (hides the frown lines). However I'm tempted to have it a bit more styled as my friend used to wear her hair about 8 years ago - hers is now very short. It was in a bob but the fringe was long, with a side parting, and the back was cut shorter than the front, quite geometric and very smart, but (importantly) it was all just long enough so she could still tie it back if needed. Like this but about 2 inches longer

the good thing about it was the way it was cut, she could tip her head upside down, give it a shake or ruffle it up and it'd sink back very stylishly in place with loads of volume
 
I often think I should just have a number 1 all over and have done with it.
Could just get one of those stick on bun things for competing, it would be lovely in the summer as well. No sweaty hair after a ride!!!

Mine is always fairly short but over winter I just didn't bother having it cut as my HD was on maternity leave and don't like the way others do it.

Anyway it was driving me nuts so as soon as she came back I got her to cut it again. short into the neck and it sort of spikes back on top.
at least this way I can take my hat off and just run my hands through it. If I need to go somewhere after riding I just spray it with products and mess around with it

So much better for helping me not get too hot either!

Couldn't agree more!
 
If you plait your long hair and then pop another band around it to make it into a sort of bun it should be fairly protected. You can then give the top part a quick rinse in the shower and keep the rest dry to refresh after a ride. Nothing beats the envy you get for long hair that is actually quite easy to look after ;-)
 
OMG keep it long !!!! The pny tail is a needs must round horses

My hair is really think and has a natural wave so it has to go up - think about not only riding and dreaded hat hair but what happens if it rains in the morning when you are turning out !!eek

I had all mine cut to a bob and it was a pain in the a... its taken me 4 years to grow it back. Why don't you try a side parting and a long sweeping fringe ? you can always stick a clip in it then if it's getting in your eyes

ETS : I've got a fringe at the moment as in an old fashioned blunt one - love it but it does some odd stuff under my riding hat !
 
CRAP. I just booked a haircut for next week, wanted something totally differnt done with my long hair so decided on a choppy bob... After reading this just realised that im not gona be able to tie it back! EKKKKKKKKKKKK. I spent soooo long deciding on what style to have and now iv got to rethink! argh. Thanks anyway guys, glad i read this now and not next week once i'd had it all cut off! lol.
 
Mine looks a similar length to yours - I plait it to ride, to look smart I just run straightening irons through it - they make a big difference to how smart and finished it looks and then it appears like a 'proper' haircut.
 
thanks all, it's really long at the moment so straightening it takes ages, I think i need it just long enough to tieback but quick to straighten. I#d really love bouncy, rollered, wag style hair but have a job, won't ride without a hat & no rich bloke to pay for daily blowdries so I think it needs to go a bit shorter to be practical!
 
I often have my hair cut in a bob, like in the picture someone else has posted. It doesn't matter if I can't tie it up as I just use an alice band (not sure thats the right word!!!!) I find that really e!!!asy to scrap hair back, comfy under hat, take of band and flick and bobs your uncle all back to normal
