I sadly lost my horse last July and have decided i would like to do something to remeber her by. I ave all her shoes from when she was killed, some tail hair and loads of photos etc. I was thinking of making a nice scrap book kind of thing or something similar.

I'd like to do something with her shoes but dont know what?

Any one else done anything like this?

I think I remember a post from on here about Silver plating shoes- maybe you could do that? Hair can be made into Jewellery- have a look in the back of H&H I think there is normally an ad in there.

When Lillie was PTS we bought a big wooden flower pot, nailed her front shoes to it with the stable door plaque and planted a rose in it- we chose a name (of rose) which really suited her

Hope that helps

strangely enough i found my old lads shoes the other day and cant think of anything decent to do with them... i think the rose and pot idea is fab and might see if i can go do it at the weekend...

Thanks for that!

I have my previous two horses sets of shoes. They are in my room, one is on a big wooden chest with my horsey bits and bobs and the other 7 shoes are in a box with their names painted on with the date they were born and the date they died.

I still have a horseshoe from my first pony, an 11.2 Shetland x Welsh and attached a picture of him in it. You need to cut the picture in the shape of the shoe, and put some string through the holes in the top of the shoe to hang it on the wall.

That shoe is really tiny compared to my now 17hh giants shoes!

One of the ponies at my yard when he died, they made this arch thing with roses over it with his shoes placed on it, and his door plaque on it. Then they planted some plants in his feed bucket

My old horses shoes I have painted one black and one white and they sit in my kitchen. Probably not the most ingeneous place to out them, but I see them every day.

I have seen some shoes with really orante painting on them, maybe you could do that with your horsey's name on it.

Three of my gelding's shoes are on his casket in our living room (it seems that not many of you kept your horses ashes after they died?) 2 were sprayed gold and two were sprayed black (after being sanded down, because he was cremated in them).
The other one is in a frame with a photo of him and a plait from his tail (it's a box frame, so they fit in nicely).
I've also been debating sending some hair off to an american company who make pots and fire the horses hair around them. They look really nice, but i'd be worried about it breaking on the way back from the US.
