Heres the scenario, muck heap is kept in the corner of the yard with a fence and an old shed as the 2 supports. We stack it from the back corner, outwards until it becomes about 3 metres long x 2 metres deep x however high we can get it before it is removed! Problem is the chooks, free range in the yard and determined to scatter it to all 4 corners on a daily basis resulting in one huge mess especially when its as wet as it has been. We are DIY, everyone is very good at stacking and tidying, except the blasted chooks. It is removed twice a year, which to be honest is enough as not many horses to muck out and the problem isnt the volume of muck, its the sheer determination of the chickens. Any ideas on how we can improve things, just a way to keep it all in one place. Disposing of chooks or keeping them in not an option, nor is a trailer in the yard!

Fence the chickens off. BTW a trailer is no use with chooks, the damned things get in there and scatter it further as it's from a greater height.

be grateful it's just the chooks, the badgers and foxes (not sure which, as not seen the former about!) like to dig in ours for the worms and spread it everywhere. :p
