Just thinking about some ideas for our riding club next year and wondering what you all did with your clubs or what you'd like to see done at your club???

We currently mainly do:

* Dressage Comps (approx once a month)
* Showjumping Comps (approx once a month)
* Flatwork/Jumping Clinics (approx every 2 weeks)
* Pleasure Ride around a xc course
* Presentation Evening at end of year
* Summer Show

Any more ideas???

Looks like you've got a good mix! We also used to do pub rides as well, club outings to local races, beer and skittles evenings and similar, Le Trec training, you could perhaps do an outing to the local gallops, adult gymkhana competition, polocross training, get someone in to do prep for showing...I'll try and think of some more!

Ours used to do a combined training event once a year, which was a bit of variety. We once did an indoor one day event too. xc phase used the WH fences.

They have had various talks as well, they had the lady that does the horse inside out this year, and in the past have had NLP, Pilates and various dressage demos etc.

At my RC we have "Presidents Day".
Members must have attended atleast two shows to get trophies when being placed. Also do a best turned out (junior and senior sections, and overall winner) and have an exterior judge.

Mounted games?

How about quadrille? It's huge fun (although I do have to shut my eyes sometimes when I foresee a crash

Dressage Test and Retest is often popular - competitors ride a test in front of the judge, then have a few minutes chat with the judge to discuss what was wrong, then get the chance to ride the test again to see how much they can improve their marks.
