OK, so this weather is very annoying, can't ride, can't turnout as normal, can't work to normal routine...

...Murphy is looking bored (and apparently looks a bit down today

I don't know how he is really, because I haven't seen him, thanks to the icy roads

) soooo I'm wondering if anyone wants to share productive/fun ideas on what we can be doing with our horses in this weather?!

I need to do something to keep his little brain busy and stop us both from going insane while I can't ride!

How about doing some inhand ground work if you have a school you can go in? We are lucky to have a little indoor where we can stimualte the horses and practice groundwork, sometimes bit more difficult when the blood is up after being in, but worth a go.

try hanging a turnip up for him to play with, hide carrots around his stable (my mare loves finding them in her starw bed) give him a groom, make a snack ball out of a large pop bottle and put feed in it, likits...dont last long, put apples in his water bucket, it stops it freezing and gives him something to play with....

my mare is proper fed up too, so am i for that matter.

he doesn't like turnips but I will try hiding some carrots for him

School is a bit snow covered but we could do some groundwork in there in walk...he likes to play with me in the snow if I can get him in the mood. Murphy's blood doesn't really do 'up' - he is naturally lazy so I have to find things to motivate him!

A nice full body massage in his house?? I have no idea how to massage properly, (although have had a squizz through the book for some tips) I just know how my horse likes being touched and rubbed so do it lightly but energetically all over. They seem to like it, even if it isn't actually doing anything to physically benefit the muscles, sure as hell seems to benefit their brains!!

Really good for working up a (human!) sweat and shifting some xmas pounds
