Ideas of cost of horse transport please?

I've seen a horse advertised in Yorkshire (i'm in Gloucestershire) more than happy to drive the distance for a viewing but IF i like like I'm already bulking at the thought of the trek in my defender!

Obviously I'll do my homework and only use a proper company and request proof of insurances and references etc.

Just wondering how horse transport works? is it charged per mile? or day rate?

Any experience would be much appreciated.

Most charge per mile but a shared load will be reduced, I sent one up to Yorkshire from Somerset it shared with several racehorses and cost around £350. I used Eric Gillies they were very professional, extremely prompt, arriving here earlier than the 6.30 am they had arranged, they are up and down the country very regularly and unless you are restricted to a specific day/ time it works really well.
